My local station lists all news broadcasts as the same show, meaning there are 3 identical airings of the same show throughout the day but they are news and constantly change despite the synopsis never updating. My options are to record one specific time slot, or all airings. Is there a way I can only record 630AM and 6PM airings, not the 11PM one? To me this seems like an exception to most shows but it would be nice if I could enable selective timeslot recording somehow.
Also Plex don’t appear to add a recording time to the filename or plex info synopsis, so I am not sure which airing is about to play until I go through the menus and figure out based on the rest of the recordings. does plex DVR offer timestamping of the local air time?
Have you looked at the Record Options -> Show Advanced -> Limit to Airing Time configuration option? I don’t think it will let you get both your 6:30AM and 6:00PM shows, but it would let you record just one of the 3 daily airings. [edit: D’oh - sorry I see you mention one time slot above, so you know about this.]
This forum seems to have a lot of can’t-record-multiple-episodes-same-day issues. NFL football, news, SNL, etc. Would be nice if we heard something from Plex officially about this stuff. We need more flexibility in series recording. Maybe the upcoming grid guide features will help.
I feel a traditional grid system would be quite beneficial and provide solution to these problems.
To complicate things further my local news schedules slightly different air times through the week compared to the weekend. So to record the news which airs every night at 6 I need to manually change the scheduled record time in the drop down you mention on Friday night/sat and sun night/Monday to reflect the minute difference gracenote provides or plex misses it completely. This is very confusing in the client interface too on an android box as it shows up as scheduled to record but don’t. If I could just record at 6PM until 630PM every night that would be a solution, which a grid should provide.
