Scheduled recordings were not made and no longer show in the schedule view

I got an HDHomeRun Connect a few days ago and I’m trying to get PDVR working reliably. Last night when I checked my schedule, there were a number of recordings that were meant to be made this morning. None of them appear to have been made, nor is there any indication that they were ever scheduled.

When I checked the PC this afternoon it was asleep: as soon as I woke it, it started recording. I assume that Plex failed to wake the PC from sleep to perform the recordings. I would have assumed that the missed recordings would show in the calendar view with warning triangles, but they’re just absent.

I’m trying to transition away from Windows Media Centre for my recordings: WMC has never had any problems waking up for recordings so I’m sure that the PC’s configured suitably, which probably makes this a Plex issue. Can anyone advise?

Plex does not currently wake the computer. Hopefully it will be a feature added but currently if your computer is not awake you will miss recordings.

I was expecting it to be a bug, not a (lack of) feature. I would have thought that a majority of people want their Plex server to sleep when it’s not busy, if it’s only a media server and not doing a dozen other things.

This has probably been asked before, but I would like to ask for Plex Server to sleep and wake up including the ability to do this for DVR recordings. It would wake on request from any app and sleep again after a time when not in use. The sleep could be done by the operating system. This would mean that a process in Plex would need to be present for Windows (or other) to notice and stay awake - not currently possible when recording live TV. This would save power and money.
