Hey guys, I was driving and listening to a mix of 2 hours. When I was at 50% plex stopped. I have no idea why, but the problem was when I started the track again it did not continue where it stopped. Even worse was that I found out I can not skip forward in the mix at all when streaming.
I tried with mulitple mixes, but none were working.
If the track is being converted to Opus, you need to wait until the entire thing has downloaded before you can seek in it (we will address this limitation in the future).
If the app is closed, it will remember where it was, but if the track didn’t fully download, it will start at the beginning again.
You haven’t provided any logs, so these are all guesses on my part
Thanks Elan for your reply.
1.not sure why plexamp should convert a mp3. On cellular I have set it to maximum, so it should not convert right?
2. the mix was already more than 1 hour playing and 40 minutes to go left. On 5g It should have downloaded the whole mix I suppose?
not sure what I saw, I was driving the car hihi. It looked normal like other files, but when I tapped somewhere in the waveform, it jumped back to where it was playing instead of playing the part I ticked.
When I got home the Wifi connected and everything was fine and quick again.
Not sure if plex caches the file while playing? So a long mix should be downloaded pretty quickly and can be played during downloading?
That sounds like it wasn’t able to seek, either because (1) it was converting to Opus, (2) hadn’t downloaded the whole file yet or (3) something specific to that MP3.
What if it shows “Direct Play”? I have a few mixes that are 2h+ and often what happens is that I cannot seek within them. Is there something I can do to make seeking in long files work?
