Search results are limited to 15 items even if there are more

Hi!

I have a lot of live shows stored on my plex server, so there are several tracks with the exact same name but from different shows. I found that if I search for a specific track, it will only return 15 tracks at most even though I know more than that exist. Often times I will want to see when a song was last played or how many times it has been played so far, but since not all search results are returned, there’s no way for me to do that.

Is there a way to remove the 15 results limit? Or can this be fixed? I would love if all results were returned.

Thank you!

I want this resolved as well. No matter how I search from Home or a single library like my Music Library I can only get partial results back from a search. Never more than 15 items. It makes search unusable for me. Things like Genre searches work, but just searching for titles or artists is broken big time.

+1. Use this feature a lot to Tag my files. Would be nice to have it work the way it used to. I like change, but only if it moves forward.

+1 This is a deal breaker for me. I wish I could revert back to the old search.
Also, I can’t filter search results (unwatched, etc.)
Finally, is there any hope of adding wild-card searches? A lot of the files have no spaces in the names so it makes searches pretty uselsss.

I asked about this in this thread. The upshot is, the quick search results within the dropdown are limited to 3 items per section (3 movies, 3 actors, 3 albums, etc.). When you select “Show all results…” from the top of the dropdown, it takes you to the full search page which, sad to say, is still the old search. As we were told in the other thread, the full search will be upgraded to match the new quick search eventually.

I am somewhat mystified why this bug – which appears to have existed for years, has not been fixed. With significant-sized collections this is a serious showstopper. Every time there’s a new Ubuntu release I say to myself “Surely they fixed it this time!” And in each case Shirley was wrong. PLEX is great, but c’mon guys, this shouldn’t be rocket science to fix. Thanks.

The overall search experience is very bad.
I don’t understand why the search is always treated as a global search with a limited set of results per library/category.

That makes sense when you are at the home page but if I have navigated down into a library or folder why would I be looking somewhere else? It doesn’t make sense especially when dealing with a large library or video or pictures.

The thread indicated doesn’t exist any more so I can’t really research further. However, from your “upshot” and my experience with the current versions of several clients there is still a significant problem.

Several of platforms (Android player for one) do not include “Show all results…” so there is no way to dig down further in a category, or library or folder.

+1. I’ve installed a completely separate web interface to a custom file crawler just so I can find files.

What’s extra confusing is that the functionality exists if you’re using the desktop web interface, since you can create an advanced filter based on “Title contains” (or whatever criteria you want), and it returns the full list of results, but even though the recent Android interface introduced filters it still lacks filtering by title, and both TV interfaces I’ve tried lack filtering at all.
