Specials = Season 0.
Numbers go 0,1,2,3 and not 1,2,3 … 0 
True. Then again… most users will initially go for the regular episodes, so it’s less clicks for them. And specials should still be showing up in the up-next screen / continue watching based on their air date.
To be fair, Doctor Who is one of the few shows for which I still have actual specials (most of the stuff listed as “specials” on TMDb tend to be extras and I have them organized that way 
Understood. Personally, I don’t do extra’s at all, kinda see them as noise but understand some folks like them.
Specials for me are episodes from the show. Anime would have a lot and it was actually Pokémon today that I noticed it with but did’nt want to use that example as I wanted to show a more mainstream show with lots of specials …
Also, lots of UK shows have specials, especially around christmas. Off the top of my head The Royle Family, Outnumbered, Motherland, Father Ted and Downton Abbey to name just a few I’m certain have specials (not extras).
