Secondary movie folder NOT pulling in metadata

Server Version#: Version 4.38.2

Ive been having issues with my database. I have a folder named Movies, Tv Shows and they work great. BUT, i have a folder named Documentaries, and a folder named Comedy. Previously these were marked as other shows, but they have NEVER pulled the proper artwork or summary or date of release. So, I was manually doing this. Someone suggested that I mark these as movies, so I did so, but it is STILL not pulling cover art, date of release, nor summary. As a matter of fact, it shows the title as what I have the filename as. "show (date).

Now, to be honest, my file structure is as follows: Plex/Documentaries/filename.mp4. I have been recently scolded to have my files in their own folder, so I will work on that, I guess. But my movies and TV Shows folders are the same way and I have no issues.

Anyone know why this happening? Ive checked the advanced settings and they seem fine.

ALSO, is there a command that would help me put my files into their own folder and use the filename as the title of this new folder? I have over 2000 movies and about 100 Documentaries.

TV Shows go into a TV Show Library Type
Movies go into a Movie Library Type
Documentaries could go in either - depends if TMDB or TVDB has the listing.

Media Library Folders are REQUIRED - meaning you can’t make the root of a drive a Library - the media MUST be in a folder off the root and that folder is added to Add Folders. You don’t add individual media movies or shows to Add Folders - you only add the media library folders.

If you require futher help - show us your file names:

TV Shows look like this:

Movies look like this:

And Filebot looks like this:

So, like I mentioned before, I have a basic media structure going. (note, when I deleted/re-added my Documentaries/Comedy folders, Plex would NOT let me select the language, and I just checked and it let me change it to English). I did select rescan my folder, but it seems to go for a second and stop, so its NOT actually checking my files, merely looking for newly added/removed data.

Here are a couple of pics of my current file structure. Hope this helps.

Do my eyes deceive me?

Get your media OUT OF THE PLEX FOLDER!

no, this is a separate Plex folder living on an external drive. Im not that dumb!

I may be -

My library folders live off the root - as shown - with no nested folders except the ones required by the TV Show Library:

TV Show Library Folder/ <---Add These Folders ONLY - if more than one
...TV Show/ <---not these
.....Season 01/
.......TV Show - S01E01.xxx
A Movie Library Folder/ <---Add These Folders ONLY - if more than one.
....A Movie (YEAR)/ <---not these
.......A Movie (YEAR).xxx

Enable Extensions in your file manager…

and if those extensions are MP4/M4V - do this:

Then if your structures and file names are good (movies look OK) this should fix those unwilling to cooperate:

ALL steps
IN ORDER
or it won’t work.

Its still in the process of checking all the files, but this seems to have fixed it. Ill post back once its completed. Thank you very much.
