Secure connection not working after last update

Still the same issue. Logs attached, as requested in another post. PMS-Logs.tar.gz (684.2 KB)

Appreciate your help with this, I woke up and attempted a restart to no avail. Attached are my logs. Thanks again! Logs.zip (4.3 MB)

Update:

We are searching for anyone who

  1. Has a system with the ā€œ404ā€ problem (where it tries to download the certificate)
  2. Can see Plex Media Server/Cache/certificate.crt exists.
  3. Can handle command line work.

If so, plus have some time to capture info for us, Please reach out to me.

We think we have something but would like to independently confirm on another system if possible.

I’m not sure if I fit your needs, but willing to help.
I am running PMS on Linux Mint (Cinnamon) 18.3.
When I try to open plex on the same machine it’s running on (via http://localhost:32400/manage), I get the connection refused error. If I go to https://plex.tv and sign in, then launch plex, it says the server is unreachable.
I can locally go to /var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Cache/ and I see certificate.p12
What do you want me to do?

I’m having this issue. However my PMS instance is running on an Nvidia shield so unfortunately I have little or no access to the filesystem. I can send logs if required though.

For background I’m on the latest Android TV release of PMS serving media from an SMB share.

Cheers

Ronan

Thanks for the replies.

  1. PMS needs to be generally working.
  2. Linux strace available on the host (android has similar – I think – accessible through adb)

I don’t think it’s generally running. I tried sudo service plexmediaserver status and got the following:PMS status.txt (2.5 KB)
If there’s something I can try, let me know.

@thompsondc

You messed up your ā€œallowed networksā€

Oct 08, 2020 09:12:01.394 [0x7fc3fc9cb700] ERROR - Error parsing allowedNetworks '192.168.1.0\00192.168.1.255': Invalid Netmask 192.168.1.255

This is what we don’t like about Mint and why it’s not supported.

It’s flaking out and crashing while attempting to upload the crash report.

Oct 08, 2020 09:12:01.747 [0x7fc3bdffb700] DEBUG - [com.plexapp.agents.lyricfind] Sending command: GET /:/prefixes

Mint may work fine for ages and then, without warning, flake out.
This isn’t the first time I’ve seen it.

I didn’t change anything regarding networks. I only installed 1.20.2.3402.
What can I do to fix?

To be honest, I’m planning on moving my PMS to a new QNAP we got, but we only have one storage drive right now (can’t wait for Xmas…).
Once we have another storage drive to put in it, I’ll setup a new PMS on it, and shut down the mint one.
In the interim, my family uses Plex daily.

Then do what you need to.

If necessary,

  1. app.plex.tv
  2. settings - athorized devices - remove the existing server
  3. Sign out of plex/web
  4. go to /var/lib/plexmediaserver
  5. rename Library to Library.save (keeps the database)
  6. Start PMS on the mint system
  7. Setup fresh with a different Friendly name
  8. Add those sections you need.

I too am having issues. I’m running Plex on an NVIDIA Shield Pro. I cannot ā€œsecurelyā€ access it remotely anymore (Shield Android TV).

I have tried reinstalling Plex, rebooting both the Router and the Hub, I’ve checked that the IP address is static, and I’ve reset the UPnP. Any help would be fantastic.

I followed each of these steps, and had to re-add my libraries. (I only did two, just to test). After completing the new setup, it says: ā€œThere was an unexpected error loading this libraryā€

Nevermind. It just took a long time for it to parse the data in the drive.
Apparently that worked.

@ChuckPa I still have the issue, but I noticed reading what you’ve posted in this thread I don’t have a certificate.crt. is that part of the problem?

Hi @ChuckPa! Tried to send you a PM with my logs in, but it says you aren’t currently accepting PMs.

@HammyHavoc

You may restart the server

@Pygmurs

You may restart the server

@jester7677

You may restart the shield server

Restarted, but the issue remains regarding connecting securely.

I don’t see Plex Media Server/Cache/certificate.crt either.
