A very useful (in my opinion) feature would be to have some type of automatic marking of sequels. Not all sequels are fully or partially sequential (i.e., Star Wars Episode 1, Star Wars Episode 2, etc). Some movies are sequels but have different names (i.e., “3 Holiday Tails” is a sequel to “A Golden Christmas”, or the movies “Time for Me to Come Home for Christmas”, “Time for You to Come Home for Christmas”, and “Time for Us to Come Home for Christmas”). Those types of movies are very hard to tell if it’s a sequel. Could there be some type of tagging, or suggestion linking, that would let you see a movie is a sequel and what other movies in a series there are/you have. For example, if I clicked in “Time for Us to Come Home for Christmas”, it would be nice to know that that is the 3rd movie in a series and link to the first two if I have them in my collection. Also might be nice to have some form of “collection” like filtering or grouping that would let me specifically look at movies in a series.
In order for Plex to automatically determine these relationships, the online databases that Plex relies on would have to have that information. Do they?
You can create collections manually that would allow you to do much of what you’re asking.
Direct sequels/prequels is what TheMovieDB allows to constitute a “collection” of movies in their database.
And this is the information which Plex uses to automatically create collections.
All you need to do is to activate the relevant checkbox in the properties of your movie library.
