I’ve downloaded all the Call the Midwifes seasons 1-9 and arranged them properly:
Call the Midwife folder
Season 0 (specials)
Season 1
Season 2
Season 3
Season 4
…
…
The files are named properly too.
However on the dashboard, Season 4 is in its own little section, named Call the Midwife: Series 4.
All others come under the main Call the Midwife section.
Similarly, one episode was named slightly differently in the file details (filename is correct). Now that one file is stuck in its own little section named “bbc iplayer feeds”. How do I shift this to the right place in the call the midwife section? I’ve already changed the file details but it seems like Plex knows it’s original stuff.
How can I fix this?
Tried scraping for meta data again but it didn’t solve it.
Also quick question: if I right-click and “delete”, will it dete the physical file or just the info from the database?
A Storage Drive/
...A TV Show Library Folder/ <---library aimed here - and nowhere else
.......A TV Show/
.........Season 01/
...........A TV Show - S01E01.xxx
You can grab a screenshot - ALT/Printscreen
then paste it to a message - CTL/C
doesn’t sound stupid at all. Plex has lots of parts to pay attention to.
If the file is an MP4 it might have embedded metadata that is different than the others. I would try what @JuiceWSA mentioned about about moving the local Media assets below the others enabled in your agent settings.
That’s Recently Added and that sometimes happens - you’ll get a Season out there by itself depending on how long it’s been since you added the others.
I am concerned about the ‘no poster deal’, but as BigWheel suggests, let’s see what the Dance can do. If it misbehaves much longer I’d dance the whole show - checking and rechecking the names and structures - to get a nice new bundle with everything in it.
Hmm.
Tried the Plex Dance - moving of the file / refreshed and it disappeared.
Went through the properties of the file and made sure it was pretty much the same, apart from the name is called “Episode 2”.
The filename is as it should be.
Cleared out the data.
Added the file back to the correct folder in Windows.
Refreshed meta data again and it’s back again.
Even more strange is that I copied the Episode 1 file, renamed it episode 2 and its still by itself.
The Library probably isn’t the issue.
Those mp4 files, had bogus embedded metadata and messed it all up.
With LMA in the bottom for ALL tabs under Shows and Movies those embedded titles won’t be a problem any more.
Now you just need to Move this show from Plex’s View, scan the library, empty the trash, clean bundles - then put the show back like it’s brand new.
All seasons will be added at once this time - and we hope without issue.
And your TV Show Library Folder should be the ONLY folder in ‘Add Folders’ when you edit the library. TV Show Folders do NOT get added to ‘Add Folders’.
Well, done the dance (120GB or files mind) - no good.
And now series 4 is out by itself too!
I’ll try one more time before potentially trying to delete Plex all together and re-installing it. Then I can fix the settings before adding any shows.
EDIT: I have ended up “matching” the lone episode and lone series and now Plex puts it in the right place.
However, disappointing that my TV now doesn’t seem to want to play the media files through it but that’s for another thread.
