Is hardware transcoding on Server 2019 just broken and never going to see a fix? I run an i7-7700 with current drivers, v. 30.0.100.9805, date 7/23/2011. I used to run Sever 2016 which definitely worked but since moving to 2019 I cannot seem to get this to work. A single stream kicks the CPU to 93%+ forcing remote streams to sit at a single 720p or failure. I’ve had to set up a second system, a 5700G now w/GTX 1070 Win10 LAN gaming system I’d like to keep offline most of the time, to enable friends to connect.
I’m sitting on some 16tb of content and half decade of metadata, custom posters, custom media, collections, etc that would take weeks to rebuild in a new system on top of hoping to keep my NAS/HyperV/Plex all contained to this one system for power efficiency and ease of use. I work with Windows Server in my job and would prefer to keep 2019 running to support the VM lab already built out.
Is there anything I am missing or need to enable here? Server 2019 just doesn’t seem to work at all. I’ve disabled tone mapping, don’t have HDR content, and can confirm that any media I do play from this server can be hw transcoded on the 5700G system.
