Server cannot be claimed after re-install

Server Version#: 1.25.5.5492-12f6b8c83
Player Version#: PlexWeb 4.69.1

After I lost the ability to connect from my Sonos player, I decided to do a full remove and re-install of Plex Media Server on my Synology NAS (DSM 7.0.1). The installation went OK, and I was able to designate my media folders, and the server started to scan the files. However,. I see the error “server is unclaimed and not secure”. If I click the "Claim Server button, it spins for a minute then stops… Nothing happends. How can I claim the server? (I am on the same subnet as the NAS)

Also, after the claiming process fails, it states that there is a server update available, but I am already using the most recent version I can download from the Plex website

Would you please, with Plex stopped, using FileStation, navigate into PlexMediaServer / AppData / Plex Media Server.

Now right-click LogsCompress to Logs.zip

download that file from the Syno and attach it here

I actually just found the same issue on the Plex forum on Reddit… My NAS was using the DNS provided by my router (192.168.1.1)… I changed ist to Google (8.8.8,8), and my server was able to be claimed. Very odd that the DNS would be the issue, but that was the case! Problem solved…

I’ve been seeing where the ISP-provided DNS (which is what your router uses) sometimes fails.

Bypassing the ISP is usually the solution.

I think Synology shortened the timeout value in DSM 7 and , as a result, it’s too short for some ISPs
