Server crashing at least four-five times a day. Sometimes far more

Server Version#: 1.32.6.7557

I’m running an M1 Mac Mini on Mac OS Sonoma 14.1 (23B74) and have been experiencing repeated, regular crashed every day. It’s gotten to a point where I have started using Lingon X, a 3rd party application, to watch for crash events, and re-launch Plex.app.

This has been happening through multiple server versions, and through multiple Mac OS versions. At least the last 6-8 months I would say.

I’m at a loss. happy to post logs if it helps, but I believe the logs have the IP address etc? Any way to turn that off?

Any help would be amazing!

The first thing I’d try is hooking up a new disk and installing a new version of MacOS, with nothing else on it but a new Plex server.

If that is stable it suggests that the problem is some kind of software issue. It could be MacOS or Plex itself, narrowing that down is the next step.

If a brand new minimal system and Plex server is not stable it suggests a hardware problem.

Yup, Sonoma and Plex no longer play well over the past few weeks.

Hi! I’ve had daily crashes on a macMini for years. Recently I changed the preferences of the server: uncheck “Video-Preview-Thumbnails” and “Chapter-Thumbnails” (Settings → Server → Library). I had no more crashes for two weeks now. Seems that this setting was the reason for the crashes.
I add a screenshot (though it is in german) and hope You find the setting on your machine.
Greetings, Henner
