We are having this issue with our LG and Samsung tv. And both these TV’s are NOT old. One is only 2 years old and the other is less than a year. We are very frustrated that Plex would do this and not offer a better solution or fix the issue on their end. That is terrible customer service and in turn a terrible product.
Has anyone found solutions to the issue that worked to get their TV’s going?
Same Issue ALL of my TVs, LG TV running WEBOS 5.4.2, and my other two older Samsung TVs.
I can access the server using my IPAD & Roku, 90% of our PLEX viewing is done on my LG tv.
My last successful use on my LG tv was the 26th of Oct.
One other piece of the puzzle is that on Oct 29th I switched to a new ISP and started using an Arris modem as my DHCP Server instead of my older Technicolor modem, some networked items needed re-booted but all other networked items work fine after the Arris modem install.
I did follow the directions that PLEX sent out regarding “Important information about Plex for smart TVs after September 30, 2021”
While on the server computer (win 10) PLEX Version 1.24.4.5081, the “Authorized Devices” show all of the TVs had access a few minutes before I wrote this plea for help.
This could be a BIG issue as soon as my wife wants to use our 65" Samsung tv to watch PLEX content. Any HELP would be greatly appreciated!
Update: 11/1/21 => On my LG tv If I set the Plex setting “Manual Servers” connection 1 to the IP address of the windows computer that is running the Plex server it seems to correct the problem. My windows server is NOT a static IP and I would prefer not to make it a static address. I think this is just a band-aid for now until Plex figures something out…
Maybe it is a clue as to what changed?
it all worked before september.
now i have the same problem.
LG C9, version 05.10.25, plex reinstalled and insecure connections changed to always. remote server access still doesnt work.
come on plex give us an answer this has gone on too long.
I am facing the same issue…
Also here the same issue. Before september everthing worked fine. Now i’m facing problems with one of my servers. I updated WebOS to the newest version and also my plex servers are up-to-date. Please Plex, fix this issue!

I now read " darrenwatson_hotmail_co_uk" post, he did the same thing…
I am also experiencing the same issue but only on one LG TV. This tv is at my parents, it worked before September. In a browser and phone connects fine on the same network. Other LG TVs on other networks work fine. Tried the above Manual Server Settings and it did not work.
Let me know of any logs other information that could help
EDIT:
I got it to work using the EDIT 2 method from [darrenwatson_hotmail_co_uk] above.
Same issue here. Im running Plex Server Version: 1.245.5173
Plex does not work on my LG 49SM8500PLA
Plex works on iPad, iPhone, Windows and Samsung TV
Details from LG TV:
- WebOS: 05.10.30
- Plex App Client: 5.27.1
- Platform Version: 4.9.0
EDIT 2 - worked for me, thanks Darren
I have an LG OLED TV and it is about 2 years old. I stream my friends Plex server and it just stopped working for me a couple of days ago. I did try and change the settings as mentioned above but has not helped at all. I am not tech savvy so if anyone has a solution or can walk me thru things to try I would appreciate it.
EDIT 2: This resolved the issue for me as well, thanks.
Hi,
Same here on a 55CPLA LG oled. Randomly stopped working to local NAS (Qnap). I do not allow external connections to net only local. I don’t share or have users off network, as mostly Plex is photos and a few old shows.
Short answer - took ages of faff to resolve but EDIT2 worked —- although I only needed to allow insecure always and the IP address manually —- not all steps. I think these two are the essential tweaks.
This issue really needs addressing by LG or Plex as it took a lot of faff , delay and hassle to resolve and was surprised so many affected. Also no warning.
Thanks OP!
