Server deleting locked fields

Server Version#: 4.12.3 (but possibly earlier, as well)
Player Version#: n/a

Replacing a media file with a different file of the same type results in the “Summary” field of the movie being deleted, regardless of whether or not it was locked.

I’m re-encoding my library replacing old M4V files with MKV. If it’s a different file type, there are no issues. (Plex sees the two and, in my case, I use the server to delete the old M4V.) In cases where I’m replacing old MKVs with newly encoded MKVs, the ‘Summary’ field is wiped clean. In all of these cases, I’ve noted commentary tracks in the ‘Summary’ field before I encode. When typing in the field, Plex automatically locks it. (I’ve also tried manually ‘unlocked’ the field and locked it myself.) When my encode is done and I move the new file, Plex goes through the update/re-scan process and the ‘Summary’ field is cleared.

I’m specifically stating movies because I’ve not made it to my television shows yet, but I’d assume the same behavior. Pretty frustrating when you’re having to look items up because they’re not in the credits or disc notes.

We’ve been trying to get Plex to make the Lock feature actually lock for years, but so far they haven’t fixed it.
