Server is Currently Unavailable. WHY?

Hi all,

Since a few days my QNAP 853pro is not available anymore. Plex does start but can’t find the NAS. It is online though, I can find it, the orange LAN led is blinking, I can play music from it with my Heos system. I restarted, logged out/in, reinstalled the softwars, nothing works. What could be wrong? Appreciate any tips you can give me!

Cheers,
Hans

what can’t find it? do you mean from https://app.plex.tv on computer? Does it work from LocalIP:32400/web where localIP is the real ip of your NAS

It doesn’t connect from the (android) app nor from the plex app on the nas itself. I tried your link and get this:

This site can’t be reached
IP-address refused to connect.
Try:

  • Checking the connection

But I can open it with explorer on my pc and also apps like Qmanager and Qfile find it without any problem.

you need to enter in your real local IP address of you NAS whatever that may be.

Like 192.168.1.12:32400/web replacing 192.168.1.12 with whatever it’s actual local IP is. On the QnAP if you open up it’s control panel and open Network & Virtual Switch it should list the network adapters and it’s local IP

You may need to get the server logs manually off the QNAP for us to see what is going on after the server starts up

I did use my local ip but replaced it for security reasons. Maybe too protective, but that’s a habit… So somehow the server refuses connection it seems.

Which logs dot you need to see? Access logs? All? They are huge so I will have to truncate them to the last week or so, before uploading.

the plex media server.log would be the important one. from preferably a few minutes after starting up the server so we can see it trying to connect.

don’t copy paste the contents just zip it up and drag/drop here or you can message it to me

Can you please specify where I can find this log? I have no clue…

there will be a logs folder in the Plex Media Server folder. location on various systems here

Found it. But the only way I could think of is to access the server with putty ssh. But I don’t know how to download the log file to my local pc. I’ve tried to use scp and pscp but I can’t get the syntax right. Is there another way to get tot the file and download it?

Have to leave now, thanks so far. I will check back in tomorrow!

I created a shared folder in control panel to the Plex Media Server folder which my computer can access via SMB. I’m on a Mac but on Windows it should show up in Explorer in Network locations

the full Path field for me is /.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/Library/Plex Media Server

Thanks for that really helpful tip! I’ve downloaded the log and send you the first bit of the server starting up.
PlexMediaServer.zip (15.0 KB)

are you running the server in a Docker? looks like the network interface the server thinks is primary is local IP 10.200.100.54. but looks like you have a Docker on 10.0.5.1.

Sorry, but I don’t know what a docker is… I run the Plex server app on my Qnap TS-853 Pro.

So when you go to http://10.200.100.54:32400/web is there a particular error that shows?

This is what I get:

This site can’t be reached

10.200.100.54 refused to connect.

Try:

ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

Check your Internet connection

Check any cables and reboot any routers, modems, or other network devices you may be using.

Allow Chrome to access the network in your firewall or antivirus settings.

If it is already listed as a program allowed to access the network, try removing it from the list and adding it again.

If you use a proxy server…

Check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don’t believe you should be using a proxy server: Go to the Chrome menu > Settings > Show advanced settings… > Change proxy settings… > LAN Settings and deselect “Use a proxy server for your LAN”.

Can you zip up all the logs in that folder?

Also can you check if the firewall enabled on the QNAP?

Sorry, the file you are trying to upload is too big (maximum size is 30 MB).
It’s 94 MB…

I don’t recall ever seeing a firewall on my Qnap NAS.

Logs.zip (2.0 MB)
I’ve thrown out everything before 2021. That helped

Did you upgrade your PMS lately?

Since the logs you provided shows that the database is locked :frowning:

From the logs:

Jan 12, 2022 21:09:34.360 [0x7f46e4ca9b38] ERROR - Failed to begin transaction (../Plugins/PluginDatabaseState.cpp:110) (tries=7): Cannot begin transaction. database is locked

So due to above, PMS will sadly never initialize

Also, do you have any AntiVira solution enabled on your QNAP?

And since the QuFirewall has to be manually enabled, and you never heard of it, I’ll take that as not enabled

What does puzzles me though, is that you say you can play music?
Am I correct here in thinking that it’s not from Plex, but from some other App?
