QNAP TS 453A - Plex will launch but after few mins will stop finding content

Server Version 1.23.4

Case :

  • Start NAS
  • Open/Start Plex on local network
  • Plex will start + Able to login + Display list of content
  • After few seconds/mins connection is lost (when trying to play media but even without trying to play)
  • Unable to reach the server (even if I can still navigate through the server app)
  • After the “delay” can’t access settings anymore as well, can’t log back in if I tried to log out

Actions :

  • Tried to stop and start again plex media server app on qnap, several times
  • Remove any VPN / check direct connexion to the nas
  • Check last QNAP upgrade
  • Tried to connect to https://[LOCAL_IP]/:32400/web - After few seconds “not available” (QNAP error message)
  • Tried to log out / Log back in

Settings (that I know) :

  • Remote control is activated
  • Allow not secure connections

Have you enabled the QTS Firewall ?

Hello. Thanks for the really fast answer.

No I haven’t enabled QTS firewall.

Basically, no changes of configuration were made between a working Plex Media Server (yesterday) and this issue.

Since I’ve tried to update the QNAP software, it didn’t affect the issue.

Okay, then we need a zip with PMS Logs

Sorry I don’t have enough time to dl the log. Just being able to screenshot them. I will try again later (need to stop and relaunch app everytime)

Database is corrupted ?

So either a very busy QNAP, AntiVira scanning the database, a database that needs to be optimized, or sadly broken :frowning:

I fear the last, even though logs doesn’t show that specifically, so suggest you start with a health check of it

Thanks. Will try to repair the database following the instructions on the link.

Just to be able to NOT reproduce that issue again…

I have installed Plex pretty recently on the QNAP (which I bought to use Plex) so I don’t think the DB becoming too large or corrupted over time could be the cause clearly.

The one thing I do with my NAS that I think could corrupt the data eventually is that I have a task to put the NAS on sleep mode every night. Could this be the cause?

No, but doing so will prevent scheduled optimize task, as well as other tasks
