Server is unavailable

I have not run plex in months but with Covid…

Since the last time I used it, I have both updated the server, clients on my samsung smart TV and my android phone. I also got a new router (was a linksys, now is an ASUS rt-ac66u).

And now Plex doesn’t work on the tv or the phone.

In each case, I am told to change the settings so secure connections are not required. I have set the connection settings on both the clients and the server to not on this network/never/preferred/etc. It doesn’t matter what the settings are; nothing seems to work.

Are there known issues with this router? Things I should check besides the security settings? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks very much!

I have gone through this document (https://support.plex.tv/articles/204604227-why-can-t-the-plex-app-find-or-connect-to-my-plex-media-server/).

I am pretty sure I do not have any proxies running. (I’ll take any suggestions on how to check.) I do not have any VPN’s running.

I have tried logging out from the clients and the server and then logging back in.

The document recommends making sure I am on the same subnetwork as well as the same network. All the clients and the server are in 192.168.50.x. I am pretty sure that would mean they are in the same Not sure where I can check to see if there is a subnet mask in place.

I am using AVG antivirus on my computer; could this mess with Plex?

Still digging…

Figured it out- it was AVG. I needed to allow fire sharing from my computer and turn on stealth mode. That fixed it.

Hi, I’m having a similar issue. I dont understand what you mean by fire sharing. What’s fire sharing? Thanks
