Server Issues

Have installed and uninstalled server over 10 times. Keeps saying it either cant find my server or asks me to download it. Not sure what the issue is.

Interesting issue, I’ve not come across this, however this could be a firewall issue? Not sure, but check the port isn’t blocked and Plex is permitted to use that port. Do this by going to Start and type “Control Panel”. Change to Large Icons and look for “Windows Firewall”. Select “Allow an app through windows firewall” and select plex on both public & private. See if that solves it. If not, a little more information could help, such as what version of Windows you are using, connectivity (wired/wireless), router configuration (does it allow this type of network traffic? are the ports allowed?)

By default, remote network connectivity coming into your router to a device on your local network are all blocked, standard security. You need to manually allow access to ports and devices, or setup a DMZ server (advanced users only, use at own risk) to allow access to one device. DMZ unblocks all ports and bypasses your ISP’s firewall for whatever internal IP address you specify.

Also, one final note. Make sure other applications aren’t using the same port, this could be a major issue too.

Hope that helps!

im assuming you read the install instructions but after you installed your server did you tunnel an ssh connection to it to do the initial setup config?
