Server keeps crashing - 1.22.2.4264

Thanks for the logs
They show you have crash reporting disabled

Jun 07, 2021 18:30:26.567 [9948] WARN - Crash: Crash reporting disabled

Could you look into these directories for any files and if you find any recent ones, zip and send to me indicating which directory path the files were in

Look into recent / current Plex Media Server versions directories below
C:\Users\GreigFamily\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\\Crash Reports directory
eg
C:\Users\GreigFamily\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\\Crash Reports\1.23.2.4656-85f0adf5b\PLEX MEDIA SERVER

The logs you provided show there was a crash at Jun 07, 2021 04:52:51
I can see similarities in the log to those from user crashes i investigated here Long Time Plex User - First Major Issue that I cannot resolve

Would like to see zip of the Plex Media Server database as well

C:\Users\GreigFamily\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Databases\com.plexapp.plugins.library.blobs.db
C:\Users\GreigFamily\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Databases\com.plexapp.plugins.library.blobs.db-wal
C:\Users\GreigFamily\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Databases\com.plexapp.plugins.library.blobs.db-shm

Also database files with filenames starting with tv.plex.providers.epg.

Thank you

A potential fix has now been produced and expected to get released soon. It might get included in version 1.23.4 - I will update you once the fix is released

Expediency and thoroughness will be appreciated. After running PMS for +5 years without a problem, our server is completely dead and unusable at this point .

Thanks in advance for a working update.

Your crash related to scheduled DVR recordings for a Sports Team. A fix is being produced for this

Thanks - any update on this? I’ve been w/o Plex for the last month b/c it still won’t start … is there anything I can do now?

Additionally, any steps I can take to prevent this for occurring in the future? Was this just a “freak” occurrence or …?

The specific crash seen before from the provided diagnostics has been fixed and the fix came out in version 1.23.3.4706
Release Note here Plex Media Server - #438 by emilybersin

  • (DVR) Scheduling sports team subscription would cause server to crash. (#12768)

Please update to the latest beta - release 1.23.4.4775-b7e0c30f2 and if you still have crashes, please provide new logs with debug logging enabled

Thanks

THANK YOU! - installing and will report back…

Hey all thank you for the insight cause I have been struggling to figure out what is going on with plex the last few days. I am also a long term user and since I turned off both Scan library automatically, partially and periodically the server has not had any issues even with 6-7 people using it last night. 10 hours in and no issues actually seems to be running faster via the apps. Ill give it 24 hours and say if it is still working properly but thank you all for the notes above really helped.

I have the same problem…

All the logs fill with this:

[TranscodeOutputStream] Changed instance plex-transcode

… and PMS crashes

Please, help me

I have already said that we need to try and identify the media file that is triggering this and then get development team to reproduce it. So needs a controlled test bringing in one user at a time and then seeing what triggers it and have a sample from that media file to repro the problem

My linux server has been crashing for months now as well. I noticed something today that someone else can try to see if they get the same thing…
My plex server restarts if my internet line resets… i have a problem connection at the moment and when i reboot my router, plex restarts… then i realised my vpn kinda does the same thing, it drops one ip address and establishes another which could be causing the same fault… dunno…
just thought i’d mention it as a possibility

Thanks - there may be a bug in that code path.
Could you run with debug logging enabled and get server logs after one of these crashes. Please make sure debug logging is enabled before the server is launched.

Also please run on latest release - current public release is 1.24.3.5033-757abe6b4. Your server is running on 1.24.2.4973-2B1B51DB9

If crash reporting is enabled in server advanced settings then there will be an attempt to upload a crash dump to the back end systems for crash reporting. Logs will have the info I need to look for the dump. If that fails to upload and that does happen - then we will need to look in $TMPDIR for the file - I will have the filename from the logs

Im also having the same problem. Been crashing for a few days now, every 10-15 minutes while watching something.
