I have just moved home and gotten out a new internet service. With upload speed of 20Mbps.
And when trying to stream content over the internet I am getting the message stating my server is not powerfull enough. I have disabled transcoding on audio and set all playback quality to Max to try prevent any attempt on transcoding.
I have also revealed audio tracking and adjust different quality play back settings with no change to the outcome.
My previous plan that I was using was HAD 30Mbps upload.
If I have forgotten to mention anything, please let me know .
Edit:
Currently using WiFi as the Network interface, where my old house I was using a network cables.
Could this be where the underlying issue be?
Just difficult to test at this stage until I wire the house up with data points.
What information is showing in the “now playing” tile for that playback on the Plex server dashboard?
Sometimes the clients cannot distinguish if a stream is slow because of a network constraint or the CPU not being powerful to deliver the transcoded packages fast enough… causing it to pick this error message.
The dashboard should show
(a) if the stream is being transcoded (and how → cpu vs. hw accelerated transcoding)
(b) the avg. bitrate of the file
Full HD remixes can easily exceed 20 Mbps – even if their average bitrate is below that threshold, the file can still have peaks / max bitrates significantly above the average…
Wire in my friend.
While WIFI is “convenient” it’s not completely reliable ( ask anyone that’s a gamer)
If your router is too far from your PC, you can pick up a "Powerline Ethernet Adapter" also known as an ASOKA Unit. This allows you to leverage your home electrical as an internet connection.
You can pick one up on Amazon for $30 - $60 (US).
Try this, and come back if this doesn’t clear things up for you.
