Server Version#: (last update) 1.42.2.10156-f737b826c-x86_64_DSM72
Player Version#:
After using Plex to watch a TV show, I downloaded a few posters for new films. When I clicked on the Plex icon at the bottom of my Mac mini’s screen, I was forced to create a new password because Plex Web wants to logon to my account. Now, Plex tells me that my Synology NAS unavailable even though I can see all the files stored on my NAS via the Mac mini. I also rebooted the NAS. Has somebody hacked into Plex? Thank you.
<If providing server logs please do NOT turn on verbose logging, only debug logging should be enabled>
Changing your Plex account password unclaims your Plex servers (removes them from your account).
To reclaim:
Option 1: Point a browser a the IP address of the NAS. For example, if the address is 10.1.2.3, use http://10.1.2.3:32400/web. Login to PMS, click the wrench icon in the upper right, see if you can reach server settings. If so, go to the General section and claim the server.
I never would have figured that out on my own. For quite a while now, whenever I click on the settings icon, I can see 3 servers. One is the Mac mini, and two are NAS servers with the same name. I renamed the second NAS server a few minutes ago. In any event, NAS #1 is version 1.42.2.10191. NAS #2 is version 1.42.2.10156. All of my files seem to be located on NAS #2. When I unpinned the TV and movie files on NAS #2 a few minutes ago, all my files disappeared. They returned when I pinned them again on NAS #2. I don’t know how I ended up with two NAS servers in the first place, but should I remove NAS #1 to eliminate future confusion in that area? Thanks for all your help.
I don’t know how I got three of them, but never had a problem. The Mac mini has the M1 chip. Before I bought my first NAS, I had Plex running on my old Intel Mac mini. Now, I prefer running Plex on the NAS.
All of my files are running on one DS1621+ NAS. For some reason, Plex sees two DS1621+ NASs. I’m probably the cause, but I don’t know how it happened. In any event, Plex is working fine at the moment. I wish I understood why Plex keeps asking me to sign in when I never sign out. The only thing that makes sense is that Plex wants me to agree to allow Plex to sell my personal information, which I will never allow voluntarily.
Look at your list of Authorized Devices and delete any old, unwanted servers.
You may need to unpin libraries from old servers in your clients.
It has nothing to do with selling your information.
Select Automatically Sign In in each client (web, mobile, etc.). In Plex Web it is in the General settings section.
Also, Plex Web uses cookies to store such information. If you are using any cookie cutters, ad blockers, etc., whitelist the plex.tv and plex.direct domains.
Before I received your email today, I deleted one of the duplicate servers without any noticeable problem. Just before writing this email, I deleted several other servers under Authorized Devices.
Here’s why I asked about the sale of my personal information. When I clicked on the Plex app to edit my library a month or so ago, I received a request from Plex asking me to allow them to sell my personal information. Also, when I tried to logon to Plex on my iPad, the “continue” option stated that I was granting consent to allow Plex to sell my personal information. The other option was “cancel.” In any event, thanks again for all your help,
