Server not visible

I installed the server. I can see the server icon in the taskbar.

If I open the desktop app I get this:

But going to ‘your media’ shows this:

How can I configure the server? Where can I tell it what directory my media is located. How can I get the app connected to the server. It looks like they are not seeing each other.

Did you previously have a Plex Media Server installed on that server (possibly using a different Plex account)?
Do you get the same result if you open http://127.0.0.1:32400/web on the machine running your PMS?

Yes. That is possible. Although that was years ago. I did an uninstall hoping that would solve it. But maybe an uninstall leaves stuff in the registry? And yes, I see the same from the web interface.

So I searched the registry and found indeed another username. No idea what the pwd was, I reset it. So in the plex app I signed in with that username. No problem. But now I dont see ‘My Library’. I do see 'Ben’s Computer" , but when I select that:

And I can see that the account used there is the username of the server.

I see the same thing happening from the app. However if I connect to http://127.0.0.1:32400/ I do have access to My Library.

And using this local URL. I can now see my own library. I tried casting a movie to a chromecast. But I get this:

Hello be5413, I have a simular problem. My Flex app clients cannot see my server on the NAS. I believe it has to do with logging in. Your situation brought up a similar case in mine. I did not think about it untill i read your article. I had in the begining re-installed my system so there may be a double in my case too. I am going to look at logging in and will let you know if i get anywhere. I am very confused about the accounts and logging in system!

I believe I found my old login name in the registry.
