Unable to edit Libraries

Literally the same issue… my server is missing but a shared server is showing. again no settings to be able to search for library.
Had removed parts of the registry and logged back into plex with no change.
Is it worth a reinstall of plex and just rescan the library?

In your case it might be something different.
The server that’s connected to your account hasn’t been “seen” by plex.tv for 6 days now.
So it’s either not running at all,
or has been blocked from accessing the internet,
or has been claimed into a completely different plex user account.

Inspect the log files of the server. After stopping and restarting it should show the used email address/user name into which a server is claimed.

can that be done by the webui? the server is completely gone… hard drive is still there

No, you need to check the Plex logo icon in the Windows task tray. If it’s not there, it means the server is not running.
In which case, try to find and start it via the Windows Start menu.

If the icon appears shortly, but vanishes immediately, it might be crashing upon startup.
Have you ever moved the Plex data folder away from its default location? If you did, does this alternative location still exist? (It must still have the exact same drive letter and folder name as it did when you moved it.)

If you never moved the location of the plex data folder, try and find the server logs manually.

Have found the server logs but it doesn’t appear to state any user. Not sure which log to look in but looking through a few there doesn’t seem to be a reference to my user name or anyone else’s.

plex desktop app refuses to load

Stop and retart the Plex Media Server. After 2 – 3 minutes look in the Plex Media Server.log and search for the @ character.

That is a wholly different issue. Let’s solve the server thing first.
What exactly is for you the “plex desktop app”?

Window 10, start menu, plex media server.

That is not the Plex desktop app. That is the server. It will only appear as an icon in the task tray. Have you looked there?
Did you get an error message when you tried to start it?

Fix found by u/GoofyCDN72:

  • Navigate go to c:\users%your user name%\appdata\local
  • Delete the Plex and or plex media player folder
  • Start Plex
  • reset navigation to media folders.
