Hi,
After I enabled remote access, the server no longer wakes up when in sleep mode.
Before enabling remote access, whenever the server is asleep, friends wanting to watch a movie would turn on their plex app on their tv and the server would wake up from sleep mode and stream their movie. But the quality resolution is low. It’s at 720p. But after I correctly enabled remote access, they are able to get the 1080p resolution. However, problem is whenever the server is in sleep mode, they are not able to wake up on on their tv plex app. Can someone help with this issue?
and now Plex Relay is not running and the requests go directly to the Plex Media Server through the public port it is enabled for
Is this server setting enabled ? Support Away Mode when preventing system sleep
(Settings / Server / General / Show Advanced)
I would like to see evidence of the server being woken up when using the backup Plex Relay service. Could you reinstate the bad configuration and allow the PC to sleep and then get a remote user to attempt a connection and get me server logs with debug logging enabled so i can see that it was sleeping and then woke up
It is possible that with relay may be the server never went to sleep
Before enabling remote access - were these users remote or on local network? If remote access is disabled in server settings - then they should not be able to access the server from a remote location using a Plex client app - eg Plex for Apple TV
That was why I was thinking that may be it was not enabled but not configured correctly - ending up falling back to the Plex Relay service
