After upgrading to the new app on the phone, I get (on the phone) a message saying “Server is Outdated” and it states that I need to update the server to 1.41.2 or newer. However, on the QNAP there is no option to upgrade the server.
Download PMS from https://plex.tv/downloads
In App Center, you want a “Manual Install”.
DO NOT uninstall the existing version. You want to UPGRADE (install on top of) the existing installation.
I recommend using the Public release version.
When you go to your Qnap nas server start plex on that server so that you get the main server program running. This is completely different then the client side. After that on your left side you need to search for settings on of those you see there is an update for Plex download it and install this in the Qnap apps. After that you’ll run the latest version. Do not remove old version else you lose settings.
It is not required to have PMS running when installing updates.
When PMS updates are installed, internally it does the following:
- Stops PMS
- Removes the executable programs
- Unpacks the .QPKG file and places it where the executables were previously
- It then performs any post-installation actions
- Lastly, if PMS were previously running, it is then restarted.
