Server Remote access stops working every 48 hours, but why?

I have a significant issue with my Plex share. It seems like every 48 hours, around 8AM in the morning (central Europe time) my PLEX server loses remote access so no one I share with can access the media. I have to reboot my modem router to fix it but I don’t know why. Everything else, my whole home network is working normally. Its exclusively the PLEX remote access that stops working.

My Network setup:

Fixed IP address to my provider — AVM Fritz Box as modem router — Exposed Host (any external traffic is forwarded) to my Asus Router that is my actual internal network router — Server Hardware directly connected to the Asus — Plex running in a Docker container.

This setup was working without an issue for over 2 years and I always had external access. But just recently when I started to share with a few more people.

  • Tried to manually enable port forwarding instead of UPnP > no luck

  • Updated both routers > no luck

  • changed the external Plex port > no luck

The thing that I don’t understand is, why ONLY a reboot of the AVM Fritz router solves the issue temporarily. I have a fixed IP from my provider that will not change. Exposed host will not reset any port openings as all ports are open.

Rebooting the Asus (and resetting the WAN connection) or reboot of the whole server does not help at all. And Fritz Box Router do not have an option to enable a time scheduled auto reboot either. So I really could need some help.


Logs: I had Debug logging disabled and can provide them when the issue happens again. For now I just have regular logs. One user reported to me that it failed while browsing the library and that was just before 8:00AM. At 10:35 I rebooted my Modem.
