Server reports "Not authorized: You do not have access to this server" after password reset

Server Version#: 1.28.1
Player Version#: Web based

QNAP: TS-453B with QTS: 5.0.0.1986

After the “hack notification” and forced password change, my backup-server indicates “Not Authorized”

The procedure at:

Does not work for me.

I have 2 servers running. Server 1 is on windows, that one logged on and was claimed back easely.
The second server on QNAP-NAS keeps being Unauthorized.

Reboot/restart (Plex-server and NAS) & Changing Preferences.xml doesn’t help.

What did help for me was accessing the NAS directly with it’s :32400/web
Instead of its :32400/web.

This allowed me to login with my Plex credentials and (re)claim the server.

Addition:
Also check the Preferences.xml for “allowedNetworks” and make sure it’s setup correctly.

Try to stop and restart the PMS service in the QNAP App Center. This worked for me.

same problem her and now it completely gone it doesn’t even show up as unclaimed any more.

Same for me (QNAP), the server disappeared and reboot/restart changing Preferences.xml doesn’t help.

I solved it by accessing the server by using the local IP instead of myqnapcloud.com, then I was able to connect to the server again.

Fixes do not work for me, edited preferences.xml on Linux and I have no server to claim.

Thanx for the tip @ Sublime

Unfortunately stopping and restarting doesn’t solve the problem for me. Any other suggestions?

it seems like you said the same thing twice. Were there two different IP addresses you were talking about?

Give the Claim it tool a try they linked in the support article. That was what finally got my second server back when all other methods failed.

“We had a security breach please change your password.”
Change password…
Cannot access Plex server even though connected locally…
Cannot claim Plex server…
Cannot setup Plex server…
Goes to try ClaimIt tool…
“enter your Plex account password here.”
Wonders if cycle continues…

Same here. I reset my password and changed my email address, and then removed all devices listed under the “Authorized Devices” section. I then went to reclaim my server with the local web tool and was greeted with a message saying I wasn’t authorized to access the server. Now the whole Server section under Account Settings is completely gone!

Please help! How do I get my server back?

Same exact thing here. Please if someone knows the answer write it down here! Thanks in advance

I’m having the same issue and it is super frustrating. Running plexmediaserver successfully for years on a small Intel NUC Linux device. I changed my password. Now, I can’t get access to my server settings no matter what.
I am running a very recent version of the beta build (which was working fine until I changed password). Then I try to access my server at 192.168.4.100:32400/web and get redirected to app.Plex.tv to login, which I can, then back to my server and it says not authorized still. I also edited my Preferences.xml and rebooted the whole machine (after stopping/starting the service did nothing) and still no good. Wish I didn’t change my password.

I had this same issue. I signed out of my account and restarted my server and was able to connect with the web app, but not my iphone. Then I signed out of the web app and when I signed back in, I couldn’t connect to my server again. So I signed out and restarted my server again and went through this process yet again with the same result. This needs to be fixed.

Alright, I tried to change my password again and now the server seems to be back when using the local tool.

But it’s still gone when using https://app.plex.tv, I get the error, “The server “[…]” is unreachable. Make sure it’s running, double check your network, and try again.”

How can I get my server to appear on https://app.plex.tv ?

Edit: And it’s back on app.plex.tv too now…

I can access my server from the web app if I go to http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/index.html#! but I STILL have no access from ios or plexamp. I sign in with new credentials and I get “user could not be authenticated.”

Here is how I fixed it. I went to my plex account, and removed my media-server.

I went to the media server, and logged out of Plex. Then restarted.

Then I got this server is not claimed. I then claimed it, it took a LONG time but it eventually came back.

My next issue none of my TV’s will work. When I try and Link, I get the code, I then link it. Says linked then the TV’s say code expired refresh.

If I try and login with Amazon, the screen opens and closes then nothing.

I suspect with so many people changing passwords… its causing load issues.

I just tried all these suggestions and it did not work, when I go to my media on my local ip to plex it just asks me to download a plex media server even though I am using one to access it!

Same here, none of the suggestions worked.
What is frustrating is, first of why are we even trying these suggestions in the first place? SHouldn’t the user experience be smooth enough to just reset passwords and sign in again.

Anyway, I need to find a way to claim the server by running the ip address/web on my NAS. This is a big palava
