Server running on Synology NAS doesn't seen even in internal web

Hello.

I just installed PLEX on the Synology NAS, using “claim server” option.

I can’t see it on the web interface in the NAS_IP::32400/web URL.

There is only “Add your media to Plex” in “Your media” tab:

I checked “Authorized device” tab and I can it listed there:

I tried to remove it from the “Authorized devices” and reinstall 3 times, but nothing was changed.

Server Version#: 1.29.2.6364-7000
Player Version#: -
Firewall: Port 32400 is opened.
Plex subscription: Lifetime license.

Using FileStation,

Navigate into PlexMediaServer/AppData/Plex Media Server

Right-click ‘Logs’ → ‘Compress to Logs.zip’

When complete, download to your computer and then upload here.

We’ll see what it doesn’t like.

thanks,

just had another user with the same issue.
I am now suspicious.

I’ve sent off message to the ops folks to ask what might be common to both

Hi @ChuckPa ,

Any updates?
I still can’t run Plex:(

@Hacker-CB

Sorry for delays. Real life is taking my time.

The network configuration doesn’t look right

It looks like the NAS is connected directly to the internet ??
(188.227.xxx.xxx)

You’re trying to connect to it from 10.181.0.88

It will not let you do this / claim it in this configuration.

What is your intended configuration?
Where should the NAS be connected ?

It’s right configuration.
NAS has external IP.
I use router (without NAT) to interact with it from my local network.

  1. You realize your LAN will always be “Remote” ?

  2. To claim it, you are forced to use the DSM “Plex Claim Token” method
    – Uninstall
    – Install using “New or lost servers” (Plex claim token method)
    – Click “Get Plex Claim Token” hyperlink
    – COPY the token your browser gives you
    – PASTE into the box on the installation page (you have 4 minutes to complete this)
    – Click NEXT NEXT DONE

  3. If all goes well, it will confirm as claimed with your username and email.

@ChuckPa

  1. My Synology NAS has external IP. My laptop has internal IP and it is connected to my network which has transparent routing between my external (NAS)/internal (laptop) IPs without NAT/firewall.
    Network works fine.

NOTES:

  • Laptop and NAS has different external IPs when goes to the internet.
  • NAS has real external address (188.227.x.x)
  • Laptop goes throw the NAT in case it need to got to the internet.
  1. I just reinstalled and successfully claimed server, but server still now shown at the NAS_IP::32400/web or app.plex.tv pages. Situation is same as I did reinstall before.

Attached logs of the new re-installing:

Logs.zip (116.9 KB)

@Hacker-CB

Everything is working OK with Plex.tv.
The issue found was isolated to that geographic region (regional server issue)

This will not fly. Transparent to you (meaning hairpinning in the router) does not change how PMS behaves.

The Syno does not have a RFC-1918 network (e.g. a presence on the 10.x.x.x network)

Without a RFC-1918 address on at least one of its interfaces, EVERY connecting device is remote.

You are ‘faking’ the connection by using a router. This isn’t going to work.
Move the Syno to the LAN (10.x.x.x) side of the router.

OR

If you wish to continue with this, your only option is to claim the server using the “Plex Claim Token” method radio button in the installer.

I did this. And setup wizard reported me “Token was claimed successfully by Pavel Sokolov”.

Main problem is that my server did not listed on the left sidebar, and I can’t setup directories with my media and all other things.

http:/MY_NAS_IP:32400/web/index.html

After you claim it, you need to force-reload the browser (Control + F5 key).

This tells the browser to ask Plex.tv for the updated list of servers.

Of cause, I reloaded browser many times, but no result.

I don’t understand your network.

“Transparent routing” is meaningless. You can’t cross networks from RFC-1918 space to Public WAN space “transparently” and expect it to work.

PMS doesn’t see what it needs to see – which is a host on its SAME LOCAL NETWORK – of which there is none.

If you have two adapters on the NAS, connect one directly to your local LAN (No router)

If you have only one then there is nothing more I can do for you.

@ChuckPa here is my network diagram:

That configuration will not work for PMS.

Having the NAS as a /32 (single point) in WAN space and not part of the same subnet 10.181.0.0/24 prevents PMS from working.

This is not a supported configuration.

Sorry, it is 188.227.x.x/30 network. (p2p network with router)

Получилось в результате победить? У меня похожая проблема.

No, It still does not work.
