Server settings are unavailable after last update. MacOS

Hello.

I have followed the regular comments in the help forums- logged out and back into Plex.
My library is stating that it is unclaimed. Attempts to claim it result in a screen stating “Server settings are unavailable”.
I have restarted my machine and re-downloaded the latest version of Plex but the issue remains.
I have also checked my port forwarding - and everything seems OK.

The server was working correctly until i was notified of an upgrade and pushed it overnight.
My OS version is 10.13.6
Any suggestions would be welcome - as I currently have no internal or external access to my media via Plex.

Regards

Mark.

Thanks - Used time machine to go back to previous version - lets hope the next release addresses this issue.

Could you reinstall the new version and grab the server logs manually.

We are a couple of users having the same problem reported in this thread. Common to all is that we have a slightly older version of macOS as operating system.

I had the same issue previously. The post below includes my uploaded logs. In this situation, I was installing after wiping everything and starting over, but the errors were the same after an upgrade. It seems to fail on attempting to reach the Plex backend to claim the server.

What is the recommended Mac OS version for PMS 1.29.1.x? Thanks

I have this same problem and have tried all suggestions except rolling back. However, I don’t have time machine installed and I’m not sure how to manage to roll back without access to an older install.
Is there anywhere I can get access to the previous version?

Thanks

Can you guys check if your preferences file still exists and is not damaged?

~/Library/Preferences/com.plexapp.plexmediaserver.plist

I’m in the other thread mentioned above. That file exists for me, I also upgraded to 1.29.1.6316, and Mac version is 10.13.5 High Sierra.

UPDATE : How would I know if it’s damaged ? It has a modified date from early this morning

It’s just a text file. Can you open it and read it’s contents?

Edit: I was wrong, it is not a text file.

I can read it’s contents but it also seems to contain a lot of control characters

I can dm it to you if that is possible ?

Yes, please.

Sent. Cheers

Thanks so much. Appreciate you looking at this - would you be able to tell us when a fix has been implemented so we can continue our upgrade path in the future? Regards Mark.

Im guessing Plex will have an older version you can download - if not let me know. Its better you get the older version from a trusted source - but if you cant get it done perhaps I could email you a copy of the old file (as a last resort).

I had this problem, ended up downgrading the Plex Media Server App ‘Contents’ folder to Version 1.29.0.6244. Works fine now, can access all the settings. Worried about doing updates though, not sure what I’m supposed to do…

macOS Mojave on a Mac Mini.

I also had the ‘Server settings are unavailable’ problem. Early 2008 Mac Pro running 10.11.6. Rolled back to 1.28.2.6151 via Time Machine and can access settings again.

Is it worth install the new 1.29.2.6334 release ? I’m still on 1.29.1.6316 with no Server settings still … wishing I had rolled back prior to going on holiday
