After a Plex upgrade crashed halfway through, and corrupted my database, I ran a repair through SQLite3 and am now up to the stage where it’s serving content internally and externally without issues, however when I try to click on “server” I get the “Server settings unavailable” error in Plex Server for Windows.
I’ve downloaded the latest executable and run the repair function through programs and features but to no avail.
I’ve also tried removing plugins from G:\Plex\Local\AppData\Plex Media Server\Plug-ins, however they have not since been recreated.
The only folder remaining in there is Services.bundle which I have also tried removing (by moving to a backup location and restarting plex), this was also unsuccessful.
Could someone please assist me with getting this working again?

Don’t perform this operation. It is not suitable anymore for current versions of Plex Server.
You might have to perform this procedure

Thanks for your reply.
I’ve already tried the steps in mentioned at https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/204281528-Why-am-I-locked-out-of-Server-Settings-and-how-do-I-get-in-
By deleting the following registry keys from: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Plex, Inc.\Plex Media Server
PlexOnlineHome
PlexOnlineMail
PlexOnlineToken
PlexOnlineUsername
I then signed back in to Plex and claimed ownership of the Plex server, however server settings are still unavailable.
Any ideas?
Log out of your plex account in the web browser.

Clear the web browser’s cache.
Shut down your Plex server.
go back into the registry and seek for the key secureConnections and set it to the value 2
Start up Plex again, wait for ~2 minutes and fire up your web browser again.
Sign the web browser into your plex account.
If you have several plex.tv accounts, make sure you are signing into the same account which the server is signed into.
Thanks again for your reply.
I’ve done those steps and still nothing. Error is still Server settings are unavailable.
Any more suggestions? Please find verbose debug attached, as well as Plex Media Server.log.
You are using the gmail address for login?
Have you selected the right ‘Home’ user? (the one which has the PIN)
Please do try also a different web browser.
Correct, the gmail address is for login and is the Home user with the pin. I’ve been using this login issue free for ~2 years.
I’ve tried Chrome, IE and Firefox, each both with and without their incognito/InPrivate browsing features.
Can you close all your browsers except one,
then go to
Settings - Devices - Web and erase all browsers which are listed in there.
This will afterwards require each of the web browsers to log in again into the plex.tv account.
See if that does something.
I received some new tips, what to check:
please provide also the com.plexapp.system.log file (it is in the plugins subfolder of the server log folder)
And check the date and time stamp of the file C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\python27.zip
Apologies I had a number of people hounding me because the server was unavailable. Therefore I:
Backed up the com.plexapp.plugins.library file.
Uninstalled Plex
Rebooted
Deleted the AppData/Plex Media Server folder (around 50GBs - 400,000 files)
Deleted Plex Inc. registry key from “HKEY Current User\Software”
Rebooted
Downloaded Plex from plex.tv/downloads
Launched Plex
Checked I could get at server settings (I could)
Stopped Plex
Copied back the com.plexapp.plugins.library file.
Launched Plex again.
All my library is exactly how I left it and I can now get at Server Settings again.
All is now well - thank you for all your help, it’s greatly appreciated.
I hope this post helps someone

You might be able to get at your server settings again, but by erasing all this data you eradicated a lot of things which are necessary for a normal operation of your server.
You and your users might only notice this later on.
Maybe the Plex Butler is able to help you out though.
Make sure all the checkboxes are filled and your Plex server is actually running during the maintenance hours.
The only thing I can see I’ve lost is the metadata, which I’m downloading again by running a “Refresh All”.
I have checked all tickboxes on the scheduled maintenance section so hopefully everything will stay in working order.
Thanks again for your help!
You also need to perform a deep analysis for all items in your library.
Though the Butler should take care of that, it may take quite a while. Until then, there may be a lot more transcoding going on than necessary for remote playbacks.
If you use a subtitle downloader plugin, the subs downloaded so far by it, may be gone now too.
