Running in a jail
I have been running Plex on my NAS for 6 years without any trouble. Last week I lost my setting section of the Webpage. I normally login directly to the server, but my settings are missing whether I login to plex.tv or the server itself. I tried rebooting, reinstalling, deleting all files/databases, each time same results. Additionally, I have a separate/second Plex server in another location and have the same problem, starting at the same time. Obviously, something is wrong with my account. I read about a similar problem around the 1.20 timeframe, but it was eventually fixed. I am at a loss for what to try next, HELP! I have been without media for over a week and the wife is starting to get unhappy. How do I remove servers that aren’t there and start over?
Should have mentioned, tried that
I just thought of something that might be an issue; I didn’t realize it at the time, but my server’s time was Jan of 2020 when I logged in and lost my server settings; Not sure how that happened (lost power for hours, but you would think it would go back to 1980 or something). Regardless, my other services in the jail were acting weird also; that’s when I discovered the time problem; Of course, the time problem was fixed, but could that have screwed up my account?
I am seeing “Request came in with unrecognized domain / IP ‘70.###.##.##’ in header Host; treating as non-local” in the log; I also tried with internal DNS name and get the same message, but with the name; However, I see the requests & completes after that message; I don’t know if that’s an issue; it could have been saying that for the last 6 years, never had a reason to look;
I have no particular knowledge of TrueNAS.
But this message “Request came in with unrecognized domain / IP ‘70.###.##.##’ in header Host; treating as non-local” means that you have either a wrong home network configuration or that you have connected your NAS machine directly to the internet.
Do you use a “public” IP address range for your local network? Claiming the server requires more effort if you do.
If you perform this procedure, you MUST use the local, private IP address to access it.
No domain name, nor a public (routable) IP address will do.
Thx for the reply; Yes, my server is on the public network behind a firewall; the Public IP is the local IP. I used a backup Preferences.xml and the error went away, but still no server settings
I think you still need to perform the re-claiming procedure.
However, since the network is on a routable IP range, you need to establish a “tunnel” connection between your web browser and the server. Otherwise it won’t allow to be claimed.
Described here under “on a different network”: https://support.plex.tv/articles/200288586-installation/
My other server is on a private network, so I will try that one 1st & report back, thx!
That worked for my Private one! will try Public one
That’s the solution! You rock, my wife thanks you so much
