Server Settings Unavalable (Beta 5208)

I upgraded to Beta 5208, and now my server settings are unavailable? Also found that the server is very very very slow to start up.

I have uninstalled 5208, and re-installed 5154 and everything returns to normal.

Anyone else having this issue?

Same here.

First off, I had the issue where I had a bunch of orphaned sync items that had to be cleaned up for Plex to even launch after the latest update. I had to downgrade to the previous, remove the orphaned items, and then upgrade to the latest.

After upgrading, all my libraries are gone and I get the same as you when trying to get to server settings. Downgrading to the previous version brings it back to normal.

Also, I noticed a new Plex Media Server directory was created inside my existing Plex Media Server directory. The new one was placed in \Plex Media Server\Updates\1.13.3.5208-20455f518\packages\Plex Media Server

You may also want to check all your shares with friends, as mine had all been removed …

All the above happened to me as well. Downgraded and had to share my libraries again also. After that it’s as before. Will skip the version for now.

Installed this last version on a fresh virtual machine and it seems to function ok. So it maybe a upgrading problem.

I did try installing the new beta fresh but with my libraries and config, but same issue. It sounds like an upgrade issue, but that’s what most people will do.

The latest version which is available for download, 1.13.3.5223, has the same issues for me.

Just installed this latest 1.13.3.5223 and have the same problem. Also cannot find the relead notes for this version

Just completed a scan of the library files and now I can access the server setting on this newest release.

How to scan the library files? I have no interface available.

From inside the web app, pointing to your server, scrool down to the word LIBRARIES and select the 3 dots to the right for a drop down menu that should allow you to select Scan Library Files. See attached image.

Thanks for the instruction. We’re on the same level. But I can’t reach the webpage. The tray icon is showing, but webpage remains unreachable. Went back to the working version again.

Spent the evening trying to get my current libraries/database to work with the latest version, but did not succeed. I fear I have to start with a fresh install and rebuilt my database. That’s actually the last thing I want to do. I hope that I will be able update as usual with future releases.

Do you know this: https://support.plex.tv/articles/204281528-why-am-i-locked-out-of-server-settings-and-how-do-i-get-in/ ?

Thanks for your suggestion. I could try that. What I did though was uninstalling the working version an d clearing the registry and putting aside the application data folder. After installing the latest version, the first time wizard is presented and Plex is operational. Leaving it pretty basicly, where there are just a few basic registry entries, I shut down Plex. move my current application data folder to the location Plex think it is. Did that a few time with mixed results. Or I receive a message during startup of Plex that the database file may be corrupt. Another result was that Plex started. The process is visible in the task manager, but no icon in the tray and no connection on localhost:32400/web (localhost, 127.0.0.1 or fixed ip addres).

I will try your suggestion after uninstalling my current version. Clearing the entries in the registry. Install the latest version and check the result. Will report back.

Hope the above is clear to you all as English is not my native language.

No luck yet. Once I point the newer Plex versions to my current database, Plex will start. But no tray icon and unable to connect to the webpage. Memory usage of plexmediaserver.exe at that point is about 7mb according tot the task manager. Normally around 40+ mb. After reinstalling 1.13.2.5154 without altering the database all works well.

Yep, same here. The upgrade is really acting strange with an existing library.

After putting in your saved library data and starting Plex Server, did you inspect the server log files? They should have something of interest to say.

Another idea:
If you did save your old plex data folder without quitting/ending Plex Server, the copy of the main database file will be most likely corrupt. You might want to try and put one of the backup copies in its place. https://support.plex.tv/articles/202485658-restore-a-database-backed-up-via-scheduled-tasks/

The thing is, dropping back to 5154 works every time. The library is fine. I’ve rescanned my whole library, no issues, but try and upgrade and then the problems start.

Then stay at 5154 for now and check the health of your database file:

  1. activate debug logging (not ‘verbose’!)
  2. quit Plex Server
  3. wait 1 minute
  4. start Plex Server
  5. wait 5 minutes
  6. fetch log files and attach them here

Or inspect them yourself. Take a look at the Plex Media Server.log file and seek for messages about database corrupt or malformed.
If you find these, you may have to repair your database.

Restored an older database, but that was not working as well. Placed back the original and went back to 5154.

Took a look at the logfile but no corrupt or malformed statement found. It is attached. This is the logfile of server version 5154 which runs ok.
