Server takes a while to be "reachable" (from Browser), some Files wont play (TV)

Hi,

I have my server (current beta/plex pass) running on a windows Server 2016 Essentials setup.

I have 2 problems:

  1. When accessing the Server from Windows (no matter if firefox or other browser or plex player, all up to date versions) it takes a while until the server is “reachable”. At first, it says “error loading media” or “server not reachable”. Not matter if from LAN or remote. After a while (30 seconds or so), it will switch to “indirect” but will work.
No problem with that on Android or TV Clients!
I have added plex.direct (without httpx) in my routers dns rebind exceptions.
The server shows to be fully reachable from outside, but only if I set the incoming port manually in the config (though it’s still the standard port).
Any ideas why this only happens in Windows? I do not use special firewall or antivirus software beneath windows built-in.

  2. On Samsung Smart TV, some movies will fail to play with “media server unreachable” error, while others play fine. Always the same movies. Remote as well as local. No problem playing those movies on other devices.

Any ideas?

I got nothin… but during your troubleshooting process, you’re probably going to be asked for logs, so you may want to work on getting those added to your post to make it easier.

  • go to plex settings
  • go to troubleshooting
  • make sure debug is enabled and verbose is off
  • shut down server
  • restart server
  • wait a few minutes (3-5) for server to do it’s normal stuff
  • recreate issue 1
  • recreate issue 2
  • wait another couple of minutes
  • download logs and attach to post

This will be the fastest way for someone to see what’s causing each issue, and how to best help you.

And also provide the Plex XML and/or MediaInfo text output for one of the problematic movies. Save XML info as a .txt file to attach. The forum does not support .xml uploads.
