Hi, i have the most recent version of plex media server installed, hooked up to an HDHomerun. It’s been working great streaming to LG Web OS 3. Recently, for recordings on CBS the server is transcoding the media when it’s not required. To verify the TV can play the recording natively, i used LG’s video app and played the recording without any issue.
Direct play and stream is enabled on the TV. Any help?
If you play an item and browse to your servers status and now playing and highlight the item it will show you why its trans-coding for example:
In this instance my client doesnt support AC3 so Audio gets transcoded to AAC and even though video is supported I believe it does a transcode copy of the video.
Yes, i see that it’s transcoding the MPEG2 video to H264. My LGTV natively supports MPEG2. Not sure why it’s doing this. Any thoughts?

Where you set the direct play and stream on the TV do you have “Local Quality” set to Original?
And I am assuming this is a .ts file that got added by DVR?
Yes, in the app settings on the TV it says “Local Quality” Original. Also allow direct play back and direct stream boxes are checked. I don’t understand why it’s trying to transcode. I’m using the latest LG TV OS.
Can anyone tell me why this is transcoding?
