Server unavailable when SHIELD sleeps

almost the same problem here. just bought the shield pro 2019. VERY DISAPPOINTING. I don’t play games. bought it to stream media!

Shield connected on router via WiFi
IP6 off
External SSD connected via USB to shield
Plex server and media on External SSD
When Shield is on, I can connect from PC within LAN on both internal and external drives and plex players find the plex server.
When shield is asleep, after a while, I cannot do any of these anymore. I don’t do anything. After a while, I can do it again. After a while, I can’t. This repeats over time. Access, no access, access, no access.
All work again when Shield if on.

I bought this as it is advertised everywhere that in can be used when asleep as a Plex Server. THIS IS NOT TRUE. PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW THAT.

Have you made sure that the USB port used for the external drive is set to stay awake? In settings you can define this for each of the two USB ports (at least on the 2019 Pro version). I have expanded my internal storage via a USB drive, so it’s important that this port is always on, while the other one (which I don’t use) is set to sleep whenever the SHIELD is in standby mode.
