Server Unavailable

I have aWindows 10 system trying to connect to plex from Xbox one on the safe WiFi.

It worked for a long time, but after tmy most recent Windows update it refuses to find the server, saying the server appears to be offline. I am able to connect to the server from my phone and laptop over the local network and internet.

The server config screen says my server is accessible from the outside network.

Please advise!

Same thing here with windows 8.1, my phone etc will find and connect to the server but my Xbox one wont. Started doing this yesterday and was fine the day before.

Im getting this as well. Its intermittently available via my phone but not via the xbox app.

Same here. My server shows available remotely. It’s working on everything except the Xbox One. This is the first time trying on the Xbox One. It can see the name of my Library but says “Server appears to be offline”. I’ve tried signing out and back in on both sides and removing and re-adding the device. Nothing working yet.

Mine seems to have started working again tonight, have not changed anything on xbox or pc and it is now finding my server.

is there any confirmation that there is an issue? just bough an xbone and plex pass sub today… was excited to get this working. everything else in the house connects to the server just fine. not a good look really. hope it gets sorted soon.

I’ve been having the same issue since my Windows 8.1 updated 2 days ago. The error message alternates between the server being offline and “unexpected error”. I tried all the troubleshooting steps that I could find, but the Xbox app is currently useless.

The Xbox One app is working for me and I’ve got all the latest Windows 8.1 updates. It wasn’t working during the outage on Friday, but since plex.tv was brought back online it’s been working fine.

This might be the reason mine was down and probably nothing to do with the app itself.

You’re lucky, since mine still doesn’t work.

I can confirm, at this point this my Xbox One still cannot connect, but all other devices can.

Your server must be visible from plex.tv for the XB1 to find it. A quick way to check is to try and access your server from e.g. your phone off the wifi.

We want to improve the handling of outages, since the app doesn’t behave brilliantly with this :frowning: If you still have trouble, please quit the app from the dashboard and start it again.

Sorry for the hassle!

The server is 100% visible from plex.tv, even when I am on a different network (I just confirmed by connecting to my home server from my office).

My XBox one is the only device that refuses to connect.

Do you ‘Secure Connections: Required’ as mentioned here - https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/173811/my-fix-for-server-unavailble ?

I can confirm I can view my server from the plex.tv website. I have remove all devices and started fresh too.

I set secure connections to Preferred and Disabled, neither is work!

I figured out the problem for me was a corrupt library database. Cut the file com.plexapp.plugins.library and paste it somewhere safe (like Desktop), launch Plex, and create a trial library (I made one with one video in it), and see if it works. If it works then, you can replace the com.plexapp.plugins.library file with a backup.

Deleted all files from \AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-in Support\Databases,
still says the server appears offline

Well this is annoying.

Please can you try going to https://plex.tv/api/resources.xml in your browser when signed in to plex.tv and see what that returns?

Sorry this is so elusive!

I left enough of the clientId hash there to give a unique hit in your DB if necessary.
