Getting update prompts on my Samsung S10e and Sony Bravia TV, but hangs when trying to update

Mind sharing some details about your server?
I wasn’t even aware you can trigger a server update through Plex for Android / Android TV – then again… this is probably not an issue of the client itself. However… if your client cannot access the server because it’s outdated, you apparently haven’t updated that server for quite some time.

From what I could find, Plex for Android 8.8.0 has increased the minimum supported Plex Media Server version to 1.15.2. This version of PMS has been released in March 2019 (18+ months ago).

There might be other dependencies that could interfere with the update of your server (e.g. if your NAS operating system does not support newer versions of PMS).

It’s a netgear nas box using readynas.
The Plex app on the NAS is Plex Media Server for RN2xx.

I’ve tried deleting the app on the server, downloading and reinstalling hoping to get the latest version, to no avail.

I’ve downloaded the update from Plex, but.jm not certain how to install it,.and I haven’t had any luck finding instructions.

Thanks, Tom. I finally had time today to try this. I had to take some additional steps, but figured it out (please don’t ask me details of what the additional steps were lol), basically had to set the server up again in the Plex app on my laptop before it would sync with my Sony Bravia and Samsung phone apps.
