server version 0.9.11.5 or higher required

My Xbox 360 started refusing to connect to server today with this message.

server version 0.9.11.5 or higher required

Strange that as there is NO v 0.9.11.5 available yet on the Plex download site.

the latest version available for Windows7 is the same as what I'm running, ie

0.9.11.4.739.

Why would xbox demand a version that doesn't exist???

Make sure you're signed in with your account on plex.tv/downloads and then select the PlexPass option. That will give you the correct version.

my mistake -

The public version is 0.9.11.4 but the plex-pass version is 0.9.11.6

I can confirm that the latest PMS version now works!

I had to change my settings on the server though. Change from “stable” to “plex pass”, then I managed to get 0.9.11.6. That (or something else) triggered an update of the Xbox’s Plex-client and now it works!

Thanks for your effort, Plex-team!

I'm having the same issue with my xbox 360. I've updated my server to the current version (0.9.11.7) and my xbox still says that i require a newer version than 0.9.11.5! I've even tried deleting and re-downloading the plex app onto my xbox and it still says the same thing!

Running OSX 10.9.5 as the server and cannot get it to update to version 0.9.11.7, I got the download from plex.tv for the new version and downloaded it, but when I opened it up it just takes me to my plex account, which still shows the server as 0.9.11.4. So after a couple weeks running it through my xbox 360.....poof it no longer works and I'm about done with researching the fix for this, failed me royally right when the fam showed up for christmas.......bahumbug Plex!! I did love you for a couple of weeks, really wish I could find a way to keep you working. Any ideas would be helpful!

Got my FreeNAS server's Plex plug-in updated after the XBOX360 plex app updated on me and gave me the server error and everything back up and working like a charm .. still having trouble with my .srt files not registering with the Xbox Plex app .. but they work fine on my Roku ... hmmm ...

Ditto.  Also tried 9.11.5 and 9.11.6.  None worked.

Another here.  Getting really PO'd with Plex at the minute.

firewall opened up so Plex can "phone home" so to speak? .. or is this a new development since the xbox plex update?

I have done all that myself, cannot connect. Plex on the 360 is now unusable.

Okay I got it working, to help out others try as I did.

Go to your Xbox 360 settings, then storage / hard drive (were the app is installed) / Games and apps.

Now once you’re in there you will see 3 Plex installs.

The 121MB main app install and 2 other small ones. Delete the two small installs, 64kb and 60kb.

That is where App Cash is stored and for some reason it’s interfering with the new server updates and such.

After deleting both of those I had no trouble using the app running the newest PMS. The error is GONE!

Hope this helps someone

Happy New Year

i have a similar problem but it's not that i can't see the server. i can indeed see the server and all the metadata. i can navigate through it all.

my problem is i can't actually play anything! i try and play and sometimes a brief screen comes up showing the show's info, like 720p etc etc, and a subtitles on/off, but then it skips right over that to tell me that it can't connect to the server. very weird as i said because i can see full folder/file/metadata info. all files are correct format.

i have tried all ideas in other threads so far. i have logged in and out of everything and changed the "Update Channel" to PlexPass, i have deleted the files on Xbox as per the linked thread here. no luck

i am running server version Plex 9.11.7.803 from a ReadyNAS 104 to Xbox 360.

any updated ideas?

I just purchased Plex pass yesterday and can not get this to work. I am running 0.9.11.7 Server version on my Windows 8.1 computer. Installed the app on my Xbox 360 and continuously get error regarding "server version 0.9.11.5 or high required." I tried deleting the 2 small files from storage and suggested but this did not work.

Please help!!!

Deleting the two small files also did not work for me. I still keep getting the error. I have Plex on my Macbook Pro and trying to watch on Xbox 360. Plex Pass holder (not for much longer at this rate though) and with 0.9.11.7 on macbook.

I've just had this same issue. my server was on 0.9.11.7 but Xbox kept saying that the server was outdated. I quit the Plex app on Xbox and restarted the PMS and now it works fine.

Anyone else sick of this garbage service. Been working IT for the last 15 years and this is rediculas. Where in the hell are the Plex support staff. Answer the ■■■■■■■ questions and give some support for crying out loud. What a waste of my time.

1. Delete/Reinstall Your XBox App

2. Delete Your Plex server app.

3. Reinstall every version from 0.9.11.5 - 0.9.11.7. Between each install test the Xbox app. Hell why not delete the xbox app and reinstall while your at it.

4. At the end of all this swear, drink a beer and read up some more. Hell, look at the common tips and other forums. Even tried FreeBSD server.

5. Wait for some type of response from PLEX support (if you can call them that). Makes me wonder if it was working at some point that I should do anything.

6. Wait a few days and it magically starts to work again and I did nothing.

Would be nice if Plex would tell us its down so we don't waste our time.

Randomly down… Awesome worked for almost 48 hours. No point reinstalling - I know how that turns out.
