<If providing server logs please do NOT turn on verbose logging, only debug logging should be enabled>
had a working server on my 2014 Mac mini and upgraded to a m4 Mac mini, started with a fresh build, ended up with two servers and nothing connected, deleted the new one, still no connection, deleted the old one and redownloaded a new copy, and it is put in the applications folder, shows up on the dock and won’t open, you click on it and it blinks on the bar across the top and nothing. deleted and reinstalled over a dozen times, checked all the settings as it seems like the new Mac is stopping it. old Mac is off, hard drive with media is attached to new Mac, I have done all I know and the forums a re not helping either, as I feel I need to reclaim my server, but have had no luck as really don’t know how to. I was afraid I would mess it up migrating to a new Mac…help please

If the Plex Media Server won’t start and doesn’t even get to the stage where it’ll be writing to the server logs, you can attempt the following procedure to see if there’s any error messages on the OS level:

  1. Open Finder and navigate to /Applications
  2. Select Show Content from the context menu of the Plex Media Server.app item
  3. Navigate to Contents/MacOS
  4. Open the Terminal app
  5. Drag the Plex Media Server executable from the Finder window (#3) into the Terminal Window and press Return to execute it

This is no different from running the app, so it won’t succeed – but you should get a more specific error message about what’s causing it to fail starting.

2024-12-01 17:21:06.536 Plex DLNA Server[1105:38606] NEPTUNE_LOG_CONFIG not found in ‘Info.plist’

I can find a few mentions of a similar error back in 2018 which were supposed to be fixed long, long time ago.
Given this relates to the Plex DLNA server – can you try to disable that, then restart again.
You’ll have to use the guide on how to edit Plex Media Server preferences (incl. hidden ones), as you cannot modify them straight from the Plex Media Server.

https://support.plex.tv/articles/201105343-advanced-hidden-server-settings/

I think the following two commands should do that:

defaults write com.plexapp.plexmediaserver DlnaEnabled 0
defaults write com.plexapp.plexmediaserver DlnaPlatinumLoggingLevel OFF

If the server is running, you could try to re-enable DLNA from the server settings (if you need it).

Side note (as you updated your original post):
Moving a server is fairly straightforward – just don’t restore anything from a Time Machine backup.
https://support.plex.tv/articles/201370363-move-an-install-to-another-system/

I reset the new back to factory and and restarted the old one and have my server up and running again. How does one transfer the server from the old to new, as I have them side by side. Try to install the server on the new one and log out of the old one? Is it that simple or are they other steps involved?

Please see the link on moving/migrating a server to another system in my previous post (very last line).
