Serveur can't start plexmediaserver_1.21.1.3876 Ubuntu 20.10

Hello,
i’ve installed plexmediaserver_1.21.1.3876 on a brand new server ubuntu 20.10 and it’s impossible to start…

it’s not my message error because i have not saved it, but it’s very similar :

$sudo systemctl status plexmediaserver
● plexmediaserver.service - Plex Media Server
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/plexmediaserver.service; enabled; vendor preset: disabled)

    Process: 1922 ExecStart=/usr/lib/plexmediaserver/Plex Media Server (code=dumped, signal=ABRT)

It says "Start request repeated too quickly, PMS failed with result ‘core-dump’

I finaly found an old version 1.20.1.3252 that works very well, so now i’m afraid to update.

What is the problem ?

Please do the following because there should not be any reason for incompatibility.

  1. Stop PMS
  2. Install 1.21.1.3876 again and attempt to start (we need to collect the error)
  3. After it fails, return to 1.21.1.3252
  4. Start PMS and download the DEBUG logs ZIP file
  5. Attach the ZIP file.

I’ll look at what’s happening but suspect there is an issue with your database that the new version isn’t happy about.

Ok,
before to do that, do i have to enable debug mode somewhere or is it by default ?
Where can i find logs files to send you a zip file ?
thanks

DEBUG logging mode is enabled by default.

I have the habit of restating it because many will turn it off (thinking they are saving space) or turn on VERBOSE (thinking they are helping). Both of those options don’t provide the best level of detail for the initial investigation.

Hi,
i finally insalled last version of plex, and this time it worked !

however I have tried several times before, and the only installation that worked was an older version of plex.

But I hadn’t tried to install the latest version again on top of it.
Maybe the old version unlocked something that allowed the latest version to be installed?

Do you want the logs anyway?
