Set up lectures so that Plex remembers where you left off and which ones you've already listened to

I have dozens and dozens of lectures that I would like to place on my Plex server. The problem having is I would like to be able to know which lectures I’ve listened to and when I stop listening to a lecture before it’s done, I would like Plex to remember where I left off. They are audio files - no video.

I haven’t been able to figure this out. I’ve tried everything I can think of.

You should already be able to achieve that by checking the Track progress option in the advanced tab of the respective library.

“Store Track Progress” is checked off within the advanced tab and when I open plex server with a browser on my PC, it prompts me to either

resume playback or start from the beginning. It does not check off the lectures I’ve already completed. So one of the two features works if I access content with a browser. The problems is I use a Roku Ultra to consume my content and neither feature works when I use the Roku.

Since the lectures are audio without video, I’ve created a music library. The other library types will not recognize audio files. I have no problem setting up Music, TV shows and Movie libraries but the lecture one has not worked with the two features I’m interested in – keeping track where I left off and indicating when a lecture has been listened to in it’s entirety.

My content is stored on a synology 920+ nas.

When I use plexamp to access the lectures it does know where I left off. For some reason Roku doesn’t.

This request is basically asking for the same features which are required for proper audio book support.
So I recommend backing this request instead of creating your own. Support for audiobooks

You may have to just convert your audio files to mp4’s and put them in an other videos type library

My girlfriend plays piano and I do this for her audio recordings

I use Wondershare or Movavi but you might already have something that works. It only takes a few seconds to convert each file and you can do the whole batch at once

I know it’s not a great solution I’m just not sure if there’s another option Plex has to make this work

Waiting for feature suggestions to be implemented is not something I’m built for

Thanks.

That’s a good workaround. Thank you.
