Seting up users and friends

I know this is pretty basic, but I have looked through the forums and don’t see what I am looking for.
Ideally I would like to have users/friends be able to login into Plex remotely using their own user id and password.

I have set up a friend account. they still have to log into the main account. Is there any other way to set up users so they can log in using their on credentials?

Plex documentation is under FAQ and Support Articles. Here’s the section on setting up Friends. They should not have to log into the main account.

I have set up a friend account. It sends an invitation. When they receive the invitation and accept. It takes them to the Plex login. At the login it asks for the user name and password. How do they acquire their password?

I think they have to go to the Plex site and setup a user/password first. Then they can use the invite to respond.

Ok, I get that now. The isn’t really very clear in any of the instructions or FAQ’s. So now when the user logs in they have two accounts to choose from, the admin and their account. How do you set up a separate pin for them? At the moment there is only one pin, so they can choose either account and use the pin.

Step #1) You need to sign up here
You can skip the above step IF you have already signed up.
NOTE: This is YOUR account. Do NOT give out your credentials.

Step #2) Your friend needs to sign up here . The same place you did in Step #1
Sure, you can do this step for your friend if they can not or don’t know how.
You can skip the above step IF your friend has already signed up.

Step #3) You need to go here and add your friends username. You may need to sign in again(account created from Step #1).

Step #4) Your friend will need to click on the invite link sent to their email.
This will of course redirect them to plex.tv. They will have to sign in(account created from Step #2)

PlexHome is not what you are looking for. What is Plex Home

You will do Step #3 every time you want to add a friend to your server. You can also add friends from the PMS software directly… But that topic will be for another day.
Your friends will have to do Step #2 & Step #4 to access your server.
