I’m trying to add some of my ripped DVDs, and I’m encountering several problems that I have never seen before.
(1) The Simpsons Season 11 episodes have all been dumped into Red Dwarf Series 11 and there is literally no way for me to tell the server that it has got this wrong. As far as I can tell, only if it gets the entire show wrong can I correct the match. But not individual seasons being mixed together.
(2) Several shows / seasons are not uploading at all, or being forgotten by the server after being added and are now unable to be added again. Two shows have seasons that Plex insists are not there no matter how many times I show it the folder to look in, and with one show Plex seems to refuse to acknowledge its existence in the first place. I have added this show in the past without issue so I know the metadata isn’t a problem.
(3) This is not a real problem per se, but I’m curious as to why every single show that Plex can’t immediately identify gets automatically identified as something called The Forgotten.
When a whole bunch of different shows get combined, generally the reason is the folder you’ve chosen to add to the library is a level or two above where it should be
/share/videos/VID1/TV ← My TV library points to “TV”
If I would have added the “VID1” folder the same thing would happen to me
3 dots next to the library → Manage Library → Edit → Add folders
Take a look at what you have there
I think that fixes my first issue, but in terms of my other problem I only have specific season folders added and it’s acting like they’ve been removed. One two-season show isn’t showing up at all.
Are you saying you changed the path to the TV folder?
If you’ve made the appropriate changes sometimes you have to Plex dance ← click
If you don’t, those combined and merged episodes don’t want to unbind sometimes. It may look they’re not showing up but they could still be merged with some other show. I don’t know if you already checked that so I’m guessing a little bit
If that still doesn’t work I can take a look at a screen shot of your file system so I can see the exact file structure and naming
I don’t have one TV folder, I have dozens, and I didn’t change anything. Plex just randomly forgot that the seasons were there and refuses to see them. And one show it refuses to see at all. The directions for the Plex dance seem like a hassle. I’m not gonna move every single show I have into a different folder. Doing that for dozens of folders seems like way, way more effort than it’s worth. Is there a way to make the service just WORK without having to do this ridiculous series of steps?
As I said, the episodes mixing between shows is no longer a problem. That got fixed immediately.
The naming structure between the seasons that do work and the ones that don’t is identical, and the show that doesn’t work has the same naming scheme as every other show.
For reasons I don’t understand the missing seasons have returned, but that one show still won’t show up. I don’t see how what I did here is ANY different from what I did with every other show.
