Here’s how this worked, I had smart playlists set up that update themselves when I add songs to the folders they’re linked to, and shared said playlists with another user. The other user would have to go into a library called “Media” which was a shared media library and the playlists would be in there. From there, they can select a playlist and shuffle. This was accessible in the Roku Plex app, but since this latest redesign got shoved down our throats, the “Media” library is gone, even though music was “put back.” In other words, the user can no longer access the playlists I shared with them. They’re definitely still shared, when the other user goes into their Plex account in Chrome on their computer, the “Media” library is still there, and the playlists are in it, and still work. This is just inaccessible in the Roku app, which is unfortunate, because they play music primarily on their TV. They can still access my shared TV shows and Movies and such, they can even access my music, they just don’t get the playlists anymore. Is there somewhere else this can be accessed? Or some way this can be put back?
Following. Exact same problem and trying to find a solution. Researching Emby and Jellyfin and will switch to one of those. Too bad, Plex was phenomenal until a week ago.
(1) Have you (or they?) favorited the Media library so it will show up in the (stupidly placed) horizontal list along the top of the screen?
(2) What happens when they use the (stupidly tiny and cryptic) playlist button on the left side of the screen once they are in the Media library’s browse view - do the playlists not show up then?
I don’t use any shared libraries so none of the above might be relevant - I was just trying to suggest some the gotchas I had to struggle with while trying to make this new hot mess work on my Roku TVs - good luck!
I checked the Roku and Android apps and can’t find a “Media” tab in either of those to view playlists shared with the managed users on my server. It only appears for me in the web interface. Is this feature being pulled from the apps?
It can’t be favorited because it doesn’t appear as an option when you look at the list of libraries. The playlists don’t show up for them because they’re saved in my plex account. They can’t make smart playlists using the same method I can because their account does not have access to the folders I have the music filed in. If they were to have the same playlists, they’d have to hand pick every song and manually add new songs to the playlists. The only place shared playlists ever show up is in the media library which has been excluded from Plex’s half baked new layout.
We have enabled Playlists so they act like a library again, as well as the Media library for shared items, just as they did before. This means you can now access and favorite Playlists for a server just like any other library. It is currently available in the Plex Preview Channel (v8.6.7) and will be included in the next official update.
