Shared Users when Changing Plex Server Host

Hi,

I currently have Plex set up on a computer and external hard drives. I have some shared users set up with this account.

I’m thinking about moving my Plex setup to a NAS server. I’m wondering what will happen to my shared users? Will they be carried over, meaning they’re simply associated with my account? Or will I need to get them connected again with my new setup on the NAS even if I’m using the same Plex account to sign into my setup with?

Thank you!

After adding the new server to your account, you will have to edit each of your sharees under https://app.plex.tv/desktop#!/settings/users-sharing
and grant them access to your new server.

Their old “played” history is stored on your old server, though.
If you want to transport that over into the new server, I’d recommend transplanting the old primary Plex database file into the new server’s data folder. (You should do that already before setting up any libraries)
