Sharing: Files vs Libraries

I have a question about sharing. Currently, with profiles, I can share libraries and/or sharing labels.

The problem I"m running into is if I add a label to share. Everything else is excluded except that label. Below is an example.

I have a profile called KIDS. KIDS have access to the Children Movies, Children TV Shows, and Home Movies.

If I add a tag to “Movies” for sharing so I can also let them watch STAR WARS from a different Library folder, all other movies in all of their shared libraries are now removed because each movie is not tagged with the sharing label.

This is of particular issue with “Home Movies” because there are an absolute grip-load of these and I don’t want to tag each one,

Is there a way to tag a Library Folder as “Share all” and tag individual files as well? Otherwise I will have to tag every home movie and every single movie I put into my “Children Movies” Library,

Any ideas and help would be most welcome. ThanksS

Not with the current implementation of sharing, exclusions, labels and the like.

Right now the restrictions (misnamed, IMO.) is an “and” statement. So the keywords or tags must contain ALL of the words you use for a particular set of movies, as you have found out. There are some feature requests to modify the structure of this, but I don’t know if there is one to specifically use the “or” operation. I could see this being useful for some people.

I know there is a way to do the entire “home movies” Where you tag them all with the same tag. Select that library, then select the box with the check mark in it. Then go to the end of the listing, do the same for the last movie, but hold shift while you select it. Everything in between SHOULD be selected then. Edit the tags and everything in that library is now marked with your tag and now can be watched by those that have that tag set up for sharing permissions.

It’s a kludge, but it’s what we have until we can get some reworking done on the whole sharing permissions process.

Thanks for the response. I was hoping there was a non-manual-keep-it-up-to-date-myself way. Is this a feature being worked on or can I request it somehow?
