Sharing labels for a collection / collection content

Hey. I wanted to share certain collections for a kid and added a sharing label to them. I then discovered that they saw the collection all right, but empty.

There might be a case where one wants to share empty collections (though I don’t see it), but shouldn’t sharing a collection share, well, the collection? Content and all?

As it is, with no way to apply a sharing label to several items at once (and doing for one item a bit cumbersome: finding the item, load the page, click on “Edit”, click on the sharing tab, type the label, click “OK” because none of those pages are keyboard-aware, repeat), the only way to batch share only certain items is to have them in their own library, but that’s not a solution either, as it implies an overcrowded library menu, and having to duplicate items with different sharing profile.

TL;DR

Can we have an option where applying a sharing label to a collection shares the content of the collection as well? Thanks.

This sounds more like a bug than a feature request.

Would be great if this can be fixed, then.
Happens on both, managed users and friends.

You can edit Sharing Labels on multiple items of the same kind simultaneously.

You can’t select a mixture of Movies & Collections, however.

(I don’t think sharing a Collection should automatically share the contents.)

I am using mobile only (phone & tablet), unfortunately there is no possibility to multi-select.
Adding a „Select all“ beside the „Deselect all“ button, which appears when 1 item is selected, would help greatly.

But why shouldn‘t the content be shared, why would you want to share the collection then?

I hear ya.

I want to share a collection of movies to my Daughter’s User but none of the movies in the collection shared are viewable by her.

I think if a collection is shared, those moves should be automatically shared with that person without having to go and manually share them all to the user.

Seems like a simple fix.

+1, I’m definitely interested in this. I’m working with TV episodes rather than movies but it’s the same principle: the collection is empty because they don’t have full access to the library, just the collection.

Don’t know if this is intended behavior or a bug but I rather like the current behavior.

I want my smart collection (that’s used for recommendations with custom filters I applied) to be visible on users’ home screen and recommended tab. But I necessarily don’t want bunch of these smart collections cluttering the collections tab. I want to reserve this tab for film series, trilogies, MCU, etc. I apply hide label to the collection and these are hidden from the users while the contents of the collection remain accessible.

Maybe a toggle option to apply label recursively would solve this inconvenience and still keep the current behavior?
