Shield Experience 8.0 Audio Drop Outs

I can confirm the audio dropout on Toy Story 4 at ~1:12 on Shield TV (2019).

I can also confirm Toy Story 3 at ~3:30 as well.

Not just me then Thought it was a bad rip, there’s other drop outs in toy story 4 such as 1hr 1 min 45

was the 2019 updated to the same hotfix, or just the 2015/2017 models?

All models have the hotfix available

All Shield TVs got the hotfix for drop outs at the same location

Reported this to Nvidia

I tested for the reported dropouts using both Emby and Plex apps on the following hardware:

I thought I was on the shield beta/hot fix before, but I guess not anymore, my shield is showing up to date on 8.0.2 (35.5.205.105]

If you guys find more dropouts, post them here so we can collaborate on the observations.

Looks like its possible there are deficiencies on the AVRs as well with MAT2.0 encapsulated content.

Very well could be the case. Some AVRs seem more resilient to the issue than others. For the record I am using a Sony STR-ZA5000ES.

Denon x2200 here and 2017 shield, it fixed the problematic dropout in guardians of the galaxy 2 for me, specifically when the ship explodes and tazer face dies.

Toy story 4 still get dropouts mentioned above.

@Ghostm Both timestamps?

Yeah both time stamps, when there is thunder at the start, and when woody is going off the jump with the canadian guy, my time stamps were a few seconds different, that was the 1 hour 2 minute mark approximately one

It definitely seems like both the players and the receivers need updates to fully resolve this. I am now wondering if we would see these drops with a physical disc in a physical player on the same receiver. @Balthazar2k4 Are you able to test with that scenario?

Not knowing enough technically, could this one have anything to do with seamless branching in disney titles?

Or is this still the same bug just not quite working.

I have a feeling we wont see this on a retail disc. I have the disc but i got rid of my retail player.

It could be a studio master error with their seamless branching but if so it would show up no matter what in that case.

I was thinking possibly the ripping software?

I have no idea though.

I can go deep into the explanation from both the Dolby whitepapers as well as what we have learned from various FOSS player troubleshooting deep dives. However it will be a lot of noise for most folks. But I am happy to open that up for discussion if people want.
