Shield - Live TV Stuttering when launching channel

We’ve experienced a “stutter” and appeared “buffering” problem when starting a LiveTV stream from our Shield TV. This has been happening for several years now, but it used to play without issue. All other content plays perfectly without issue. I’ve recently had luck with another concern being resolved by reporting it here, so I thought I would give it another shot!

We are using a SiliconDust HomeRun device connected to an antenna. LiveTV DirectPlay and stream work perfectly on every other device. (we only have one Shield TV)

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open Plex
  2. Go to LiveTV category
  3. Start any channel
  4. The video will “buffer” (stop, show loading circle) briefly and then continue to play. After that the audio stutters (cuts in and out). Sometimes everything catches up and the stutter goes away after several minutes. Most of the time it continues.

To prevent this annoying issue and to ensure correct playback, we start a LiveTV show and immediately pause the playback for a second or two, then continue playing the show. Once we do that, there are no other issues with playback until we change the channel. Once we select a new channel, we experience the exact same thing and go through the pause/play sequence.

Knowing that our Shield TV is in our living room where we watch the most TV, it would be awesome if something could be done about this or if someone knows how to resolve the issue.

I did download the latest Beta: 10.5.0.4973, which didn’t seem to fix anything

@sixones , you did an amazing job helping with my previous issue, is there anything you would recommend or could help with?

Logs attached…

  1. I opened Plex
  2. Chose the LiveTV category
  3. I started a basketball game (I let it buffer and stutter without pausing it to fix the issue)
  4. I started a football game a few minutes later (I let it buffer and stutter without pausing it to fix the issue)
  5. I turned on logging and collected the information
