The dreaded moment has arrived, unfortunately earlier than expected (doesn’t it always…). My 3TB external USB drive for my Shield TV has failed and (according to a specialist) cannot be saved or any data extracted. And no, I didn’t have a backup (just too costly). To make things worse, I had the server data saved to the external drive… So my questions are:
PMS has stopped and cannot be restarted. I guess I need to delete all app data and cache to get it working again, or is there any other way?
When I go into Plex, I can still see the thumbnails of all my movies and series. Is there any way I can extract a list so at least I know what I had downloaded? I went into all folders on the internal drive related to PMS but couldn’t find any files related to database, is there anything within the Plex App?
Is there a way to save my PMS settings (eg things like shared user accounts, plug-ins, etc) or do I need to start over from scratch?
I have a very old server backup from before I moved the PMS data to the external drive. This could at least help with the settings, but not with the library. But from what I understand there is no restore process.
Hi, thank you but my database backup also was on the failed drive. All the PMS data is on the external drive. I will try this with the old backup, at least I will have the movies up to 2 years ago.
I can’t figure out how to use this ExportTool. It needs to be installed in the Plug-in folder, but I have no plugin folder as ALL my PMS data is on the failed HDD. Somehow I’m still seeing the thumbnails though. All I want is to extract this information somehow.
And when said, it might be an alternative to download the database, and then open the table named media_parts with something like: Downloads - DB Browser for SQLite
